Canon General / Re: seeimpossible.usa.canon.com?

Whatever it is - the folks at canon have definitely
read along in many, many forums on the net.

They do know their clientele very well, obviously.

EOS Bodies / Re: Poll: Would you buy a high MP Canon EOS 5DIV?
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:11:39 AM »
My highest interest would be guaranteed if not only the resolution
would increase (moderately) but much more important: A new sensor
doing away with color problems that Bayer patterns bring to the table.
And a global shutter that serves both for video as well as overcomes
the x-sync barrier. And more ISO power.

A 3 or 4 layer sensor might cope much better with discontinuous light
sources such as fluorescent and many LEDs, and global flash sync would
be a godsent for sports with flash.

Let's hope for Wifi in a dongle like the 1-Dx hast, or in a grip
like some models before, and NOT in a brick like for the 5D Mk3.

IF RGB + IR does not refer to metering but the image sensor,
THEN this is the most interesting camera of the last 15 years.

I think I need one.

Reviews / Re: Tony Northrup - D810 vs. 5D Mk3
« on: August 08, 2014, 04:14:57 PM »
Well.....

Last week I swapped D800/D4 for D4s/D810.
Long story short - 5D MkII and 5D MkIII get equal usage as the Nikons do.
They all have their merits and strengths.

Most of the people dissing one or the other can't compare from
first hand experience. That simple.

There are no real rumors about the long-awaited M3.

From somebody who should be in the know I got just one comment: It's coming!

Leads me to believe that photokina the latest we will know, too.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: D810!!!
« on: June 26, 2014, 03:08:18 AM »
For still photography the improvements overall seem incremental,
with just one exception: "The d810 has the same AF module as the D4S",
says the German Nikon website.

So, there will be a D4S out soon as well.

The biggest upgrade though is in video mode with 1080 p60 available
and many other video details improved.

Yes, this looks like a very good piece of equipment.

It could as well be a global shutter based on this technology.
No more X-sync barrier, no more rolling shutter problems.

About battery life: For longer tripod based video recordings
I have an AC adapter, and 5x 3rd party batteries to go when
I'm out on the road. I paid 38 dollars for the 5 batteries with
a dedicated charger that can not only charge from mains
power but also charge from USB and car plug adapter.

I prefer carrying a bunch of small spare batteries over lugging
a bigger camera.

Also, the battery dummy of the AC adapter can be hooked to
a professional power supply plate like the Lanparte and be
fueled by either V-mount or Anton/Bauer gold mount batteries.

About the special laptop: That for sure ran a prerelease version
of DPP with the new camera included. And how to judge color accuracy?
Simple: Process pictures from a current camera as well and compare.
