So my girlfriend and I just finished watching the Bang Bang club which btw was amazing. really loved it. now, i actually didnt notice this, but she pointed it out and i went back and what she discovered was that there was a DSLR with an L series lens on it. The film was based off the 1994 african war, etc. and all the photographers were using SLRs obviously at those times, mostly Nikon according to the film and Leica's. And I beleive one dude had a Canon SLR. now, this screen capture i will show you is clearly a DSLR (i assume actually) with an L lens. maybe a 24-70 2.8 or the 16-35 2.8 so I want you guys to help me out on this.

Almost looks like the really round hot shoot area that you would see on a 5D. If you want a better angle of the camera, i can go back and screen cap.

i am impressed and not impressed. The noise, yes it does go to 12800 but its horrible. What i also noticed, is that the outside edges of the images are really out of focus and lose most if not all sharpness. I dunno, with 800 dollars, should you rather buy a low end DSLR i.e. rebel? I dont think i would even buy either or. I currently use a 40D hopefully upgrading to a 7DmarkII when it comes out.

Maybe to the untrained eye the G1X will impress, but atm, i wasnt in much amazement.

when starting photography, my brother purchased the 40D and did photography, however somehow, there was some transition and next thing you know, I am using it, and studying photography and making it a career. I still use the 40D, we got it when it came out.

i havent bought anything else, i have the 40D 17-85 EFS lens, 70-300 EF lens and a 50mm 1.8. now, my plans though would be maybe the 7D, but i am waiting on the 7D II if it comes out in 2012 or some good aps-c camera or maybe a fast APS camera.  I hate the noise on my 40D and would love a better camera, but i like FF but they are slow in fps and not many AF points unlike what you usually get in an APS-C or APS-H. so im waiting to see what canon releases to meet my needs and budget.

the 1D X does actually meet these needs but way to epensive. maybe later on down the road when I am more of a professional and not a student. Though I am impatient on replacing my 40D.

i dislike rebels, 60D has a dumb layout, 50D , is a small useless upgrade, and 7D may see a replacement soon so all i can do is play the waiting game -_-  wish i had cash though for a 1DX

the symmetry is nice. the lines are perfect. but the colors and/or the scene isnt BEAUTIFUL. i feel that if I took this exact same S___, i wouldnt have the same attention. Probably because this guy has made a huge name for himself.

in my opinion, on the 5D, smack on a 24 - 70 f2.8 and the 50 1.4. however, the 1.2 L is a BIG difference from the 1.4 from what i have seen when it comes to clarity. it really is a beautiful lens. however, the zoom and the 1.2 will cost around the same, so an arm and a leg. but the 1.4 cost under 400 i believe. so it depends your budget but i would go for the 24 - 70 for sure on that full frame because you can go down to 2.8 instead of 4. as for the 50 mm, anything your budget can afford. however, it is full frame, and i do agree with the others. the best portraiture length is around 80 mm or so. so maybe the 24-105 or whatever it was (forgot) would be nice. especially because f4 or 5.6 would give nice clarity. so if youi are really concerned about that 10-15 mm difference of distortion, then go for the f4.

but my finally opinion would be that try em out. rent the both for a day, and give it a run of your everyday life.

dual lens attachment! almost like those quick screw drivers. lets say you are at an event.. you gotta switch fast from that zoom lens to a wide angle.. BAM! just rotate some thinger and you got a diff. lens on :P instead of the slow replacement time or having a second camera or shooter.
