EOS Bodies / Re: Hugely Disappointed In 5D III Price
« on: March 11, 2012, 02:55:49 PM »
Well considering that adding a battery grip makes this camera way better than the way more pricey 1Ds Mk III probably that's the reason for the high price.
Still I'd exchange it anytime for my 5D Mk II if I could, but yes it's quite pricey at the moment...who knows maybe in the future.

Way better? Not so sure about that - particularly up to iso400

Well actually the 5D Mark II has already a slightly better sensor compared to the 1Ds Mark III (quite subtle in most of the cases but still a little bit better).
Talking about functions of course the 1Ds Mk III is waaaay better than the 5D Mark II, maybe it has something more also compared to the 5D Mark III speaking of functions, but there are also lot of other functions available solely on the 5D Mark III and not on the 1Ds Mark III.
So since the new camera is about 2 stops better than the new one, it would be obviously better than the 1Ds Mark III for noise performance and picture quality, plus you get a better AF and faster burst mode.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Teases Exclusive Screening at NAB 2012
« on: March 11, 2012, 05:50:34 AM »
I've been invited directly from Canon too, same day but the even will be held in Rome, Italy inside the studios.
It looks like it's going to be more something about trying the new 5D Mk III and 1DX, I don't know if there will be something more.

EOS Bodies / Re: Here's an Invite for March 2, 2012

Where does this invite come from?
I'm from Italy and I know nothing about this event, nor anything is written on the Canon Italy webpage...
Still it's written in Italian...quite weird, isn't it?

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Split? 5D X & 5D Mark III [CR1]
« on: February 10, 2012, 11:01:36 AM »
I would totally go for the "standard" 5D Mark III, we don't need more megapixels, we need even better high ISO handling, better focusing and burst speed.

Although FF does have better high ISO, if you crop the noise is magnified and in general an uncropped 7D image will be less noisy than a 5DII image cropped to the same FOV.

Strongly disagree. Probably you have never tried a 5D mark II, otherwise you woud definetely notice the difference on a 100% crop picture.
Full frame cameras have way better picture quality, that becomes even more noticeable if you raise the ISO and compare it to crop cameras.

EOS Bodies / Re: A guy used 1DX yesterday in Germany!!

switch to nikon and give us some rest.   :D
you won´t get more MP with a 1D X so why talking about it over and over again?

and why not buying a pentax 645?
it´s not that much more expensive and a great studio camera!

if you need MF .. buy MF... simple as that.

How couldn't I agree more with you!! Once in a while that Canon stopped the horrible megapixel war there are people complaining!! The 1DX is such an awesome camera, and the awesome thing is that it is an all rounder that is not mediocre but great at everything from sports/nature to studio photography.
I can't wait to see the high ISO full res pictures taken by a 1DX, and if there are still people looking for more megapixels they should do only one thing: switch to medium format cameras.
How 18-22 Mpixel arent' going to be enough?? How big are the prints you will make?
Astonishingly I sent out some pictures for a contest and they were low res (something like 1600x1200)...well surprisingly they printed them out for an advertisment...it was something like 3x2 meters and they came out good....now imagine a full res 18 or 22 mpixel image...do you want to print on a 10 stories building?

If you ever visit some airport in the UK my suggestion goes to Dixons Travel, they have very very nice prices for cameras, and if you can find a lower price on Amazon, they price match it!

Well whoever stole it most probably has been filmed, and if it was so crowded that is difficult to see what happened, then EXIF data will show if that person forgets to hide EXIF each time he publishes something.
Beside selling it is gonna be easily detectable.
Not a smart move, and it ruins the spirit of CES!

Software & Accessories / Re: Is it worth updating 5D2 to 2.1.1 firmware?
« on: January 09, 2012, 08:39:03 AM »
I had some problems before updating to the newest firmware, not it seems ok.
In any case I see no point in not using a card reader, I mean you spent thousands euros on a camera and lenses I suppose, I don't think 10 bucks would be ruining your bank account.
Beside this using a memory card reader is so much better than direct downloading from the camera for several reasons:

- You won't use any battery.
- It's way faster.
- You can keep using your camera with another memory card while downloading the pictures.
- And last but not least...yes you  can store other kind of files in the CF...firmware files included.  ;)

Do you know if DxO can handle the distortion of a Samyang 14 mm? LOL, if it can handle that one they really have something.

I am a prowd owner of the Samyang 14mm f/2.8, it's such an awesome lens, and even more considering the price tag.
I've found out a software to correct its weird distortion which is called PTLens, you can find it here, it has the profiles also for our beloved UWA lens. http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

Lenses / Re: Does anyone here have a sigmonster?
« on: January 09, 2012, 08:01:28 AM »
My suggestion would be to get a very sharp and bright lens, not extremely heavy like a Canon EF 400 f/2.8L IS II USM and then when needed using a 1.4 or 2x TC.
You'll get quite nice quality and portability at the same time.

Contests / Re: Holga Giveaway
« on: July 19, 2011, 01:13:21 PM »
For some reason my account seemed to be gone and had to re-register.
By the way I'd love to try those lenses on my 5D Mark II.
I'll get to take some quite funky pictures!
