You might be the first person to ever lodge this complaint. Your viewfinder can never be too big! Even old film cameras often blow current FF's out of the water with better finders. If there's anything to complain about, its that the text/info in the viewfinder of FF cameras is smaller than APS-C cameras. But a bigger, brighter tunnel in which to compose your photos is always better. Spend a month with your 6D and then try going back to a smaller finder! They are truly tiny...

ANOTHER 18mp sensor would be a joke...unless it is a NEW 18mp sensor with improved performance. Seriously, they've used the same one too many times already.

What about a plain and simple 50 1.4L? An updated version with better focusing, build, and image quality? IS would be nice, but that would jack up the price a bit. It sucks that you have to spend almost $1,500 for an L quality 50mm prime. I'm sure many people would happily pay $800 or so for this. Add IS and make it $1,000 and you really have a winner.

Short focal lengths? What about 50mm to 70mm? I don't think that's short at all. It'll especially be useful on the long end. And the IS will also be useful with the "slow" f/4 aperture. Even if you're getting a shutter speed of 1/10 at the 24mm wide end, wouldn't it be nice to have IS then? The IS will also certainly help the macro shooting. So it serves a great purpose on this lens, I think.

The choice between this and the f/2.8 should be clear = pro wedding shooters who need the speed and bokeh will go for the 2.8, hobbyists and video shooters will go for the f/4.

Correct me if i'm wrong but what's the point of IS in such short focal lengths?

With the release of 24-70 f/4L IS it will be a tough choice for some to decide with the 2.8 non IS version, what do you think?

The 6D will certainly be "not so bad", in fact I think it will be pretty awesome. However they could shave a few hundred dollars off the price, just as the 60D was a bit cheaper than the D7000. It's like that all over again, except with full frame. As a long-time Canon user, and fan of their ergonomics, I'll be going with the 6D. Hmmm...another minor update to the line, typically Canon.  But, a 5x zoom would be nice, providing they keep it as an f/2 lens and don't make the body any thicker than the S95.  2 more MP?  Could live without it, but it won't hurt.  Will I replace my S95?  For a 28-140mm lens (only longer than current), probably not, but for a 24-120mm (longer and wider than current), I probably would.

I agree, a 24-120 lens will be a worthwhile feature to upgrade for. I still have an S90 (and quite happy with it) and a wider angle would be worth going for. Also couldn't care about the extra 2MP, as long as it doesn't increase the noise levels. Please keep it the same size!

What's not to like about the 7D?

The 5D2 has unmatched IQ at its price and resolution point.

the 550D and 60D give you 7D IQ in small, light, cheap bodies.

What more do you want?

I agree, some features could be improved, but the lineup is looking pretty strong to me. Can't wait to see what's next in for the 5D and 7D line.

Hi, I'm a long time follower of this site and I want to use it to express my disappointment to Canon about their current range of DSLRs.

I've been using exclusively Canon digital SLRs for the past ten years and have a collection of L glass to use with my 5D.  Recently I've been given some Nikon kit to play with by my college and I believe the D700 and D3s blow away anything that Canon has in the market place.  Add to that Canon's absence from the mirrorless and pellicle markets and I wonder what's going on, or not, at big red.   Getting rid of a mirror on a trapeze flapping about is a significant and logical development but Canon seems stuck in the past.

I'm not alone in my group in saying that if we don't hear of developments from Canon in new markets soon we're going to move to a combination of Nikon and Panasonic and hang the expense.  If we're forced to do that it will take massive technological innovation to persuade us to sell up again and come back to Canon.

It's a different level of camera, feature wise and ergonomically. IQ you'll get the same thing.

I find it hard to believe that the T3i would be the first crop camera from Canon to improve upon the 18mp sensor they are currently using. Probably will debut in the new 7D next summer.

The XXXD models have also had 18 month cycles in the past, so it could happen again. We've seen the XXD all over the place (12, 18, and 24 months...)

If I were you and I were debating between the 60D and the "next XXXD", I'd just go for the 60D and be happy with the extra features you know you'll have.

I'm very tempted to buy the 60D now given the big rebates which will expire in January.

However, I was looking at the release timeline for Canon (bottom of the page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_60D) and realized that the T3i should be out in about 2-3 months.

It's reasonable to assume that it will come with a new, better sensor compared to that of the 60D. And who knows what else will be improved, at least in comparison to the T2i.

At the same time, it would surprise me if Canon shoots itself in the foot by releasing a lower-end camera so soon that bests the 60D in one or more key areas.

So... What do you guys think? Should I wait for the T3i?

I would be very very happy with 2 stop noise improvement. But can they really pull that off at 28 megapixels?

RAW video sounds interesting, but seems like it would take up TONS of space.

Aren't these threads fun? I think everybody wants something slightly different.

I'd like to see a sub-$2000 full frame body with the following:

- popup flash with wireless TTL flash control ala 7D/60D
- less than 21 megapixels (and noise improvements)
- perfectly usable ISO 6400 (on par with Nikon D3 at least)
- 5 frames per second
- 7D autofocus array (although it wouldn't bother me if they didn't change it)
- decent auto focus in video mode
- ability to use EF-S lenses in crop mode (fewer megapixels, ala D3)

That's about it. Everything else Canon has done is pretty solid already.

If the 50D's ability to shoot 12800 has you hooked, and you can tolerate it, then I think you could tolerate a few more megapixels in a new 5D. The 5D2 is already performing much much better than the 50D. So I think there could be a middle ground, such as a 16 or 18mp sensor, but we all know that won't happen. I'm afraid the next round will likely be around the 30mp mark. The 5D2 is probably exactly what you want, just turn the resolution settings down a notch. I shoot my 50D at 8mp all the time!

Here's what I want.

About 8...10 MP. Why? Because large sensels produce larger signals and this will improve the signal to noise ratio, hence allow higher ISOs, a'la the D3s *except* that Canon handles black better than Nikon and also doesn't foul up my images with noise reduction I can't turn off. Also, because an image of this size transfers faster, takes up less space both in the camera and on disk, processes faster, loads faster, saves faster, and also means the camera can shoot faster, and ALSO means that the available lenses will do an excellent job because the size of the individual pixels pushes diffraction further up the f-stops and doesn't require such tight focus to be pixel-accurate, either.

The *only* reason I don't own a 5DmkII is because of the 21 MP. That's ridiculous. My 50D, at 15 MP, is already making images that are far too large. My 40D was better; but the 50D's ability to shoot at ISO 12800 has me hooked. But I can't see going to 21 MP for ISO 25k (still, if it was in my hands... the wallet might be in danger.)

Other than low noise, high ISO, and hopefully an end to megapixel madness, I don't really care about things like AF - give me one good center point and I'd be happy; I *really* don't care about video; I'd like approximately the 50D feature set and that'd be fine.

Having said that, I'm sure they'll give me a plastic body camera with 50 MP, ISO 6400, and every video mode known in NTSC, PAL, SECAM and HD. And I'll have to stick with my 50D or break down and buy a 5DmkII.
