Software & Accessories / Ultra-Light Travel Tripod Suggestions
« on: January 26, 2014, 11:59:09 PM »
Hi guys,

I am in the market for a super-light travel tripod that I can easily stow in my luggage on trips and might actually use (my other tripod is pretty huge and heavy).  After my research I am now interested in the Sirui T-1205X travel tripod:

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these Sirui tripods, the reviews seem pretty good for this one.  If you have any other suggestions, I'm looking at around no more than $300 and I shoot generally with a 6D and 24-105mm lens.  Thanks!

Lenses / How low will it go? (50L)

Hey guys,

I've been holding off on purchasing a 50L until the price dropped during a rebate program.  Right now Amazon just released that it will be selling it for $1399 on Feb. 24.  I remember early-mid December it was going for $1299, but I was too indecisive then to buy it!  Do you think this is as low as it will go or will competition continue to drive it down?

Lenses / Lens Rebates

Hi guys,

I am planning on buying a 50mm f/1.2L sometime later this spring/early summer.  I was wondering whether Canon historically has a summer or spring rebate program.  I know this lens was about $1299 during the holiday season, but I decided to get a 6D instead!

Lenses / Prime Lens for 6D

Hi Guys,

I just got my first full frame camera for Christmas, a 6D.  I am so excited and I am starting to look into buying a new lens for it.  I currently have a 24-105 f/4L, which is an awesome lens I use everyday, along with an older 17-85 f/4-5.6 I had before I got the L lens.  My next lenses down the road will be the new 24-70 and 70-200, but I don't want to spend 2000+ right now!

I am starting to look into getting my first prime lens and I am having a hard time making a decision.  My friend has a 35 mm f/1.4L lens, which I found quite amazing, though I didn't use it for long.  I also am looking into a 50 mm f/1.4.  I know these lenses have huge price differences, and I am also concerned about the looming update for the 35 mm lens.  My main question is, what do you guys find the best focal length for an everyday prime lens?  I feel kind of restricted at 50 mm, but I wonder if 35 mm is too wide for an everyday walk-around lens.
