Good on you for putting your name and face out there and especially for all the work of providing a forum for others to use.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
No, that was an attempt at humour, actually. I disagree completely with your original point, especially the unnecessary "iTard/iSheep" characterization.
lol u mad?
I agree with "Marx Dee-5 TAEM Too" eyetards/eyeturds/eyesheep are too simple with their 1 buttons to care about ingenuity though....that's why they buy overpriced garbage instead of doing their research.
Anyway, we've thrashed this subject to death. How about those Blue Jays...?
Well then, ok...I caught a nice capture of a blue jay sitting on a tombstone the other day. A metaphor? Back on topic (well, ok, not really, but I agree we're pretty much done here) ...I took the pic with my 7D + 100-400mm, and I have no intention of chucking my 7D in the bin.

Wow, you just argued that you agree with my point. AF made it faster to focus than is humanly possible. Touchscreens on the other hand, makes camera operations slower, doesn't have tactile nor haptic feedback, and as I've said, doesn't solve any problem.
I think that some of you have missed the point- that this is a phone- that has climbed an impressive way up the food chain and is now poised to start eating the "serious" camera manufacturers lunch, granted at the present time at the bottom to mid range of the market.
And, two of you "smite" me for pointing out the obvious? Really...?
Geez. Tough crowd.
Hmmm, no doubt Benjamin Dowie accomplished what he set out to do, generate some interest in his video by using a cheap marketing ploy. "Really, the Iphone is just as good as a DSLR?"
The only people that would believe this are all the apple drones Steve Jobs created before he died, and folks that really have no interest in serious film making whatsoever.
To be honest, the Dof is not bad for a video phone, but you can see the flaws of not having a manual setting for exposure. There's constant light shifts in the videos exposures as though the ISO on a DSLR were set to Auto. Also I'm not sure I'd want to see another Iphone video like this again with all the bouncing around of the video.
The most amusing part of this subject has to be when I searched google for information on the new Iphone, the search engine kept coming back with several links on, 'iPhone 4S vs 5DMarkII.' There's some pretty stupid people out there.

This is the iTard / iSheep syndrome spreading, as if making everything w/ a touchscreen would somehow make it better or faster or easier to operate. A solution looking for a problem. But then again, the target market seems to be the same ones who can't operate any electronic gadget with more than one hardware button...Lulz.
That's not true. Most smart phones will aproximate a position using the cell network and then lock in a position with the GPS. But- there are apps that are network-independant and will give you a GPS position even when you're off the grid. I've tried this for myself way out in the Canadian wilderness.QuoteSummarizing: your "dream" cameras exist as prototypes
but are too expensive to become market models
My "dream cam" is a 7D with a flip screen, WLan and GPS. And that's definetly not expensive. Every 100-Dollar mobile phone has features like that.
Mobile phones get GPS information from base stations, not GPS satellites and that's only on newer phones. So a 100 Dollar mobile phone isn't a GPS receiver in the same way that a GPS navigator is. Thus there's no special hardware required for GPS information in mobile phones.

"Broadway Camera" is a reputable pro shop in Vancouver and is listing 5DMK2 for $2,299.99 .... sale price.
And it says sale ends 29th August 2011 - maybe that's the day before the press release?
I tend to become a little obsessed once I have a new interest or want to reconnect with an old one. Some people may think of that as somewhat "unhealthy" or of me being a "gear head" with a tendency towards GAS ("gear acquisition syndrome"). Oh well. But I'd respectfully disagree. I still do actually take pictures, ride my bicycle, play my guitars (or work at my day job...). So to me getting as much technical background of things and making informed decisions when buying (rather expensive) items is part of the deal - and part of the fun.
hehe, i have exactly the same! that's also the reason why i came to this site. to get info about new camera's (especially the 7dmk2) to be release.
