Software & Accessories / What printer paper do you recommend, and why?

I bought myself a Canon Pixma Pro-100 as a Christmas present. It’s a great printer, if anyone is on the fence about one, you won't regret it.

That being said, what papers do you use/recommend, and why?

Almost all of my printing will just be pictures of my kids for myself and family. Right now I’m using Canon photo pro paper and am satisfied with the results. I poked around on the internet, and couldn’t really find anything about the differences in different types and brands. I’ve heard good things about Ilford papers.

Technical Support / Question about printing....

Hi there, I have a question about printing. I hardly print anything, usually just snaps of the kids using Target/Walgrens, etc. So I'm a total newb when it comes to printing with a "real" print service. I have a panoramic photo (6300x2100 px) that I want to print, Does anyone have any suggestions on a good place? That being said, is there anything special I need to do to print a panorama? Also, my monitor is color corrected, do I choose color correction when printing then or not? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Software & Accessories / Best film scanner under $200

Anyone have any good results with a sub $200 film scanner? Need to scan both 35 & 120. I tried it with my cheapo all in one scanner printer fax, and inverted the colors, didn't work so well.

Lighting / Light Meters?

How many of you use a light meter? If so, what are you usually shooting with them? I was looking into them on the interwebs the other day, I’m really surprised how expensive they are. Even used older ones on ebay still command a hefty sum.

I’m guessing the majority of people who use them are doing studio/portrait work. Do you still find yourself using one as much as you used to, as in camera metering has improved over the last several years?

Software & Accessories / Looking for a new bag/backpack

I’m looking for some suggestions on bags/backpacks. Currently I’m using the Lowepro Fast Pack 350. I’m currently at capacity and plan on a new body and a lens or two in the near future.

What initially attracted me to this bag was the laptop sleeve, and the fact that it also has an area that is not all padded for carrying what ever you want. The one thing I really dislike about it is the lack of ability to easily carry a tripod.

Here is what I am currently carrying:

50D w/ grip
24-70 2.8 L
70-200 2.8 L IS II
50 1.4
28-135 IS
18-35 EF-S
Speed light 430exii
Misc other stuff, chargers, cords, etc.

I plan on getting what ever the 5D mk iii ends up to be, another speed light, and another lens or possibly two.

I’d like a backpack that can easily carry all of that, with a laptop spot. Anyone have any good suggestions for under $ 200.00?
