EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Sooner Than Later [CR2]
« on: December 28, 2011, 06:03:08 PM »
The 5DII severely undercut sales of the 1Ds III as the image quality of the 5DII was better

No!  Have you used a 1Ds3?  Do you know its DR is better than 5D2 especially in shadow?  Do you consider the low ISO banding on 5D2 a better image quality?

So an early announcement like the one rumored means that the new 5D will likely be the camera many of us hope it's not; a slow focusing

It depends on what D800 announcement tells Canon about its MP and focusing ability.  If the rumor is true, then D800 will still have the 51-pt AF system from D700.  So if Canon's 5D3 is to compete head-to-toe, they can't put the same crappy AF from 5D2 to 5D3.

way too high (uselessly high) megapixel camera

I buy what Thom Hogan thinks (See "Amateurs Need More Pixels" on http://www.bythom.com/).  Plus I think studio/landscape photogs need that camera that 1D X isn't able to answer.

that doesn't compare to the 1Dx in high ISO performance so that people who were waiting for a body with the 1Dx's features won't consider a much cheaper option in the new 5D.

People who are waiting for a body with the 1D X features are professional shooters who need those to make a living and who are comfortable paying since they are also making a good money by their photographs.

People who are waiting for a body with the 1D X features and only consider a much cheaper option, e.g. 5D3 or 7D2 are just dreaming.

I can only see a PIXMA MX886 printer.....................

Don't you guys think it's weird that they bought 4-page ads last week and it's not showcasing anything on a day of what they are supposed to surprise everyone?!  Unless there is nooooooothing to announce..........................   :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Isn't there another Canon announcement scheduled in Netherland?  What's up with that one??

Hello everybody!

Do you guys know when we can expect the announcement based on GMT?

Thanks

You can expect the announcement based on NAT.

NAT = Nikon Announcement Time...   ;D ;D ;D ;D

If the rumor that availability won't be until March 2012 is correct, they likely wouldn't need to start the production line QC until after the announcement...

Remember this?

CR guy said "...As mentioned on other sites, “no leaks… no announcements.” That holds true here as well..."

Hmm...  Why do we hear only from DigitalRev about the "pro" product launch?  If there ain't other invitations being leaked over the weekend or early next week from other major retailers around the world, do you guys still think DigitalRev is the only one who is invited to see 1Ds4 / 5D3 / etc... ?

For the record, Kai from DigitalRev got disappointed before for a PRINTER invitation!!!

EOS Bodies / Re: *UPDATE 2* Art Wolfe Confirms the 1Ds Mark IV?
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:42:02 PM »
Let's face it.  These pro photogs have "THE" "NEW" "1D S Mark IV" for sure.

Their assistants accidentally (or purposely with whatever reason) leak the info and realize later it can be deep trouble due to the NDA.

If you were them, what will you do?

1. You must correct the post immediately.

2. You must make some lame excuses like "yeah I was talking about a new camera as opposed to a used one...  oops, I meant to say Mark III but IV is easier to type...  Ugh, don't you think people type DS faster than just D..."

3. You try the best to contact popular rumor sites to beg them to remove their posts too.

There is no big deal.  We all know the prototypes or pre-production models exist anyway.

The iPod was the first indication that they were, in fact, thinking different. Here was a personal computer company, used to selling $2,000 computers, willing to take a risk on a gadget that would sell for a fraction of that price. Most big companies would not invest the time and energy to develop a device that was not nearly as profitable as their existing products, in a market that did not even exist yet.

Hey folks, just some random thoughts: what if Jobs comes back in the future and wants to challenge the camera industry like what they did with iPhone on mobile phone industry?!  They might make iCamera that is not necessarily a DSLR, RF nor MF...  The iCamera simply revolutionizes the imaging industry and freaks the hell out of Canon, Nikon, Sony, Leica, Hasselblad, Phase 1, etc...  Apple again does it from the scratch and it beats all these industry leaders to death...

Imagine...

News/rumours coming out of the trade and the smoking booths say:

New 32 > 35 Mp body within one month priced at about £3500 GBP. This must be 1Ds MKIV.

I'd be surprised at that sort of price point, at least on announcement, as the 1DIV is currently around £3800, now that it's finally back in stock.

"New 32 > 35 Mp body": it might be 1Ds4.
"£3500 GBP": it MUST NOT be 1Ds4 - it can only be 1D or lower.

DR improvement would be my biggest concern in addition to MP & ISO.

If ISO 102400 is highly usable, then it'd be a no-brainer for a lot of wedding photogs.
