I don't understand the problem... My 1DII doesn't show any AF point in AI Servo, black or red, when using the 45 focus point. So, having a black point is better than none right?

That's something I wanted to know. What about the other 1D cameras? How does it work?

This is the way I have it setup... If I activate the 45 focus point and set the camera to AI Servo, no AF point is visible.

When I want to track something I put the circle in the center of the viewfinder over my subject and press the AF-On button. At this point, still, no AF point showing.

Finally, while tracking the subject over the 45 AF points, no AF point is lighting up either...

Maybe there is some other way to display AF point in AI Servo in the custom functions but it never bothered me... In fact, I don't want my subject lighting up like a Christmas tree when I track it

Yes, resolution is nice, high ISO is nice, DR is nice... We can't have everything in one camera for sure.

Strangely enough, i called canon usa yesterday and asked when the current release date for the 1DX would be and the lady said the end of april.

I asked Canon Canada on their Facebook page and they said mid-June... I'd like to hope for a better outcome but hope is fragile...

I really hope they are re-working the F/8 autofoucs issue during the production delay....

I really don't expect that. Bigger RAW buffer maybe, better battery life possibly... I don't think we will see much change of the original spec sheet. If we do see f/8 is probably because of a firmware hack. Redesigning an AF sensor that time and the AF sensor is not at fault here because it is used (with success) in the 5DIII.

Are there any more specific dates than mid or late June? I really need delivery by June 12th and I am hoping that Canon, for once, padded its estimates!

Mid-June estimate is as good as it will get. It's not an iPhone so there is a lot of variables to take into account. Things like, your country, your CPS membership or not, your place on the pre-order list, the size of your photo store, etc...

Yes the first people actually getting the camera may get it in June but it could be weeks later for others.

Thanks for posting!  Silent shooting isn't, but at least the buffer seems pretty deep for continuous shooting...

The internal buffer is a spec that may changed once the camera is in production. Canon could add 50% or double the memory used for buffering the images quite easily... Without having to reprogram the firmware or change the camera design.

I hope they go for small updates like this during the +8 months delay...

Hey Craig and folks, do you have a link to the press release?  Is it an official statement from US / UK?
As of now, Canon Japan still shows 1D X to be released in late April:

"London, UK, 12 April 2012 – Canon would like to advise of updated sales start dates for the previously announced EOS-1D X and EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM lens, due to a delay to the start of mass production. The EOS-1D X will now be available to buy from mid-June 2012, and the EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM lens from early-July. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers."

This is as official as it will be. Don't expect any other statement from Canon. They hope the 4K cinema stuff will be burying this bad news fast.

That's a bad news... I can't believe this... October 2011 was the announcement... October!!!

And they even have the guts to shove another camera EXACTLY like the 1Dx, but better, in our faces. I can't help myself to thing we are treated like crap by Canon.

"You know that 1Dx we announced back then? Well, it could have been better from the start but we crippled it to make room for the 1Dc... We are sorry to tell you like that, we just thought everybody would have a 1Dx in their hand by the time we announce the 1Dc... Oops!"

Man...

18 MP sensor - same as the 1D X.

Basically, seems to be a 1D X with minor changes - headphone port instead of flash sync connector, supposedly better heat management, and obviously different firmware.  Oh, and that red "C" on the front.   

Yes... I'm into video.. Mostly because the 1DII didn't have video of any kind... Should be released in October... Riiiiight.
