Lenses / B+W XS Pro MRC UV (010P) NANO Slim filter for my 85L or 135L
« on: December 13, 2012, 07:11:53 AM »

i need to get a filter for my 85 1.2L and was wondering if this filter will work properly as i had read that these slim filters have a different front trim so that some lens caps dont work and also that you can't fit the lens hood over it.

Has anyone used this filter with the canon 85 1.2L?
Or maybe the 135 2L?

i ask because i can get a good price on this slim filter but i also have the non-slim one too, so i can either use that on the 85 and get the slim for the 135 or just use the slim on the 85 if it is compatible.

anyone have any experience using B+W's slim range?

I am trying to do more portrait photography and so far my equipment consists of a 5d3, 2x 580exII and some lenses.

last weekend i had to do some portraits and what i did was borrow another 580exII to mount on the 5d3, then put my other 2 580 behind the subject shooting at the cream coloured wall behind them to make it white. All this was fired via the 580's master/slave function.

However, when i did some group shots after, the single output light from the camera mounted 580 wasnt even enough although i used a lightsphere (yea yea not the best, but it was a small room, worked well enough and was nowhere near as harsh as bounced/straight flash)

So what i want to do is potentially get some cheaper yongnuos as background lights so i can then relocated the flashes to have 2 behind, 2 infront and 1 on camera for a better distribution of light.

Which yongnuo is recommended if all i want to do is get them to fire via optical slave and they will be in manual mode?

Alternatively is there a better solution?

Im also researching to buy some light stands and umbrellas off amazon too as they ship to australia (cowboystudio umbrellas and manfrotto stands maybe) if anyone has any suggestions on that too.

Does anyone know if lightroom 3 presets are able to be imported and applied to photos in lightroom 4?

i use a lot of presets for lightroom 3, some i've downloaded many i've modified and made however with no more support for new cameras in lightroom 3, i cant import my 5d3 raw files in natively.

Any suggestions on this?

EOS Bodies / someone identify this crazy video attachment/camera?
« on: October 09, 2011, 12:16:57 AM »
so my mate was out at some festival here in sydney australia and he saw this camera man filming someone for an interview or something. it seemed he was using a full on pro video camera, but on closer look, it looks like a canon camera with some sort of crazy attachment!

Sorry about the pics, but they were from an iphone, but could someone shed some light on this crazy contraption??

edit: Updated pics to full res iphone4 images!
