Key question - will the current crop of cameras work for you. By this I mean will they have sufficient IQ, approriately weatherproof, highest enough light sensitivity, .. So you can get the picture you want. After many people do great work with a phone camera.

Now if lust over the latest and greatest, perfectly okay to do so,the wait (and wait and wait) as something new is always rumored.

Let me put it this way in one summer i will put just shy of 100,000 images on a camera shooting sports. Many of those days are dark mornings thus iso jacked up and colors taking a hit. While my 1dm3 has served me well since 2007 i have had the shutter replaced 3x, the last time was just over 340,000 actuations. I do believe the 7d center point focus beats my 1dm3 because i have guys that shoot for me that use them and their shots in focus ratio is a little better than mine and its not due to operator error. An advanced hi-iso 7D II with new focus tech in it is just what would suit me. I don't see myself dropping 6.5G's so i can shoot sports and weddings better than my 5d3. Also i want the crop factor. It makes my 24LII a 38.4mm focal length and ideally i like to shoot finishline work at 35mm. With my 1dm3 it is just over 31mm. So the sensor crop, speed and focus tech are what i am looking for in a new camera.
I get the do you need it comments. I guess when i make money at it and i can offer a better more consistant product then i am happy too.

This doesnt seem to be a 7D II concept but a 3D or whatever concept since it would sit between the 1d and the 5d much like the 1dm3 did. Thus Like neuroanatomist mentioned about $4000.

I would expect an excellent game changer 7DII to be $3000. Who nows really, only Canon.

Its nice to see CR posting about focus speeds being related to voltage output, it seems to not be understood by many as the reason why a 5dm3 and 7d can't focus as fast. But then there are also many that do. I am re-stating it to continue the awareness.

I don't care about this. I think it was around 2006 or 2007 I heard about Canon having developed a 50mp sensor. Yippie 6/7 years later and still nothing from that that helps unless the 50mp sensor had the new Micro-lenses design that added to the sensors today. Certainly Canon hasn't advanced sensor tech enough to see major advancement other than high iso which is probably more a software than a hardware thing.
Ok i will be honest here about advancements. I realize that a 50mp sensor is of no use without major advancements in memory tech and decreases in memory storage costs. I still wouldn't want a 50mp camera 5 yrs from now for that reason. So i'll give them that but like the Nikon Mantra, wheres the Dynamic Range advancements? The fact that that tech is avail on Nikon means Canon users are without. I will also say have i missed it on my 5dm3, no, would i be happy to have increased DR, well of course i would? It would be nice to shoot and be several stops over and not blow out and kill color info. That to me would be advancement.
I do really like the whole shoot in the dark thing and i do see Canon start to market that more even like with the 6D so maybe there is something there. Basically the closer a camera can get to what an eye sees we are all better off.
Ahhh, I am glad i ended that on a pleasant note lol.

Oh and the 35 that would take back some from Sigma would be a 35 F1.2. Heres hoping for the next revolution hopefully consisting of wides below F1.4.

I worked for Honda and read internal technical papers acknowledging problems I knew existed as an owner before I worked there. And they had no intention of correcting them -- in those or any subsequent models. There are no companies that will universally treat the customer with fairness and honesty.

I knew saying Honda was a bad idea lol. But the very next post! Wow... Let me say this a friend of mine was an engineer there and he said they ate slept breathed Honda, complete obsession to perfection. Honestly i wouldn't want to work there and he said he quit because he had life and other interests outside of Honda and didn't like that lifestyle. However, I do want to buy something from someone obsessed. I obsess over my images and my clients get the benefit of that. Am i half as good as many of you here, heck no but I am proud of my output and quality of it. Ok so Honda isn't in fact perfect and sometimes miss the mark but out of the 9 cars i have owned in my life my 2 hondas only had regular maint. There were a couple recalls on my current one but recalls that had no impact on the regular operation and would never know there was a prob cept for a letter. At least they took action even though I had my car 4 yrs already.

I am losing respect for companies pushing products out before testing properly. Why can't they do like Honda? I know its been going on for a while with companies, prob since the beginning of time but social media like these forums catch fire over this type of stuff. I was ever so lucky to be a first 1dm3 owner that had shutter and focus issues. I didn't have major problems but still had the recall. Seriously if Canon weren't so big and the fact that other companies also fail like this they would be out of business. The aps-c on the 7d2 will have to be some new tech to compete with an APS-H of a 1dm4. I hope it is and i hope it does.

Don't forget Auto ISO in manual mode being able to exposure comp it like you normally could. So if you want to be 1/3 over no matter what the ISO chosen will adjust to make it possible. There really are many many things Canon could address with firmware to make this camera what it ought to be.
