Technical Support / Which is really better? Kenko 1.4 or Canon 1.4 Mark II?
« on: September 04, 2013, 09:31:19 PM »
I have a chance to get a nice used Canon 1.4 II TC for the same price as the Kenko 1.4 pro 300 DGx. I'm not worried about weather sealing, as I don't really shoot much in the rain. It will be mainly to increase the range on my 70-200 F4 IS for getting a little closer to the birds that sit on the branches around my feeders that are about 25 ft from me. I can get some nice shots, but I'd like to fill the frame a little bit more. Other info.. I use a Canon 60D and I mount on a tripod with a wired trigger with mirror lock-up.

I know their will be a loss in image quality, but is one better than the other for the least amount of loss?

Thanks in Advance,
Matthew

PowerShot / Which Canon Point and shoot??
« on: April 16, 2012, 11:40:16 PM »
Here's my question. My wife loves taking photos of the grand-daughter and as she does not like to get the DSLR out every time, I bought her a cheap point and shoot last year (Cheap as in Nikon ...$79 at Walmart). What I want to do now is upgrade her to a better P&S. Is their a P&S that can focus and shoot fast? The current piece of junk will focus and when you push the button the rest of the way down to shoot, you lose the shot, as the subject (Grand-daughter) has moved. I don't want to buy any advanced P&S like the SX40, as they are a little to big to put in her pocket.

Thanks for the Help....  and for those who are going to ask... about $250 price range.

Lenses / Canon 1.4x tele vs 1.4x II tele or Kenko
« on: April 09, 2012, 06:42:23 PM »
I've seen a few 1.4x Canon tele (series 1) units on e-bay and am wondering if they are any better than the Kenko 1.4 pro or is the Canon 1.4 II Better? I cannot afford the series 3.  I'm using the 60D with a 70-200 f4L IS.

So, I real question is: Canon 1.4 tele series 1 or Series II, or the Kenko Pro 300 DGX?

Thanks,

Lenses / Lens Choice.. 70-200 F4 L IS or 70-300 F4-5.6 L IS
« on: January 27, 2012, 06:55:37 PM »
OK, I'm ready to purchase a new lens, but I am wondering if I would be better off with the 70-200 F4 L IS and a TC or the 70-300 F4-5.6 L IS? I read that the 70-200 F4 IS is one of the sharpest lenses that canon makes and I read that the new 70-300 F4-5.6 L IS is Good, but not as sharp.  Has anybody got any thoughts? I use a 60D and shoot alot of senior photos, and I am really starting to enjoy shooting wildlife.

Thoughts please?

United States / Can the ISO be preset for shooting video on T3i
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:14:47 PM »
My sister has bought a T3i and wants to know if you can set the ISO for video? I've never used Video on my 60D, but when I looked at it, I didn't see a place to change it and have it stay that way.

Thoughts? Solutions?

Thanks in advance!

« on: December 03, 2011, 06:03:59 PM »
I would like to know how many MP's does a FF sensor need to be equal to a 35mm Film Camera? I had an AE1 and I thought the photo's I shot with it were very nice.

Thanks,

United States / Looking at 70-200 F4 IS vs 70-200 F2.8 Non-IS
« on: November 25, 2011, 06:15:31 PM »
Please give me your thoughts on which you think is a better lens for about the same price.

I use a 60D and currently only have my old, old ef-s 18-55 from my Reble XT and an old ef 28-105.

I have done alot of senior photo shoots with a borrowed 17-50 tamron F2.8 and it works well, but I seem to always be at 50mm. I am thinking of shooting a little bit of High School Sports, and enjoy shooting landscape.

I just got back from the Rockies in August and rented the 70-200 F4 IS, and it was a treat! So, is the IS more important for what I tend to do over the speed? I do handhold for senior photos and do most of that outside on locations. Sports? might use my Mono-Pod and I have a nice tripod for landscape. Is one really sharper than the other? Is it a noticable difference when you blow the photos up to 24x30 for printing?

Thanks for all your input.....

Matthew
