1D X Sample Images / Re: Rocket Launch shoot with Canon 1dx

Looks good as is, shaf. Everything in the frame is sharp and identifiable, i really like it. There is no wrong way to take a photo, and for being shot in pitch darkness that photo turned out great. :)

A face that tell lots of stories!

Yep, tells stories, or keeps me from being able to sleep at night  :o
Awesome photos sanj, and to the others that joined in with their own entires. I am seriously ready to order a 1DX with an 85 1.2 and 24-70 2.8 II, at least it will save me alot over my first plan of 1DX and 600 F4 II.... :)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 6D viewfinder too big ?
« on: April 23, 2013, 08:26:15 AM »
Hi

New to this forum :)

I just got my new canon 6d and I simply love it. Before, I had the canon XSi. One thing that I noticed is that when I look in the 6d viewfinder, it is very big. It nearly impossible to see it all. With the XSI, the visible square was smaller and I could easily see the image I was going to take. But with the 6d, I cant see the edges all at once. I have to move my head a bit from left t right to see it all. And if I waer my glasses, its even worst since my eyes are a bit farther.

Is is due to the full frame sensor? Anyone else noticed this ?

I'm sure you get over it quickly, once you see the leap you've made in image quality from your old camera. I own a 7D and had a 5D II for about 6 months, and you could notice the size difference through the viewfinder, but it was never a problem. Looking back at my old files thoug, the 5D II's IQ blows the 7D out of the water in every regard. Enjoy your new camera  :)

Hey sanj, ignore the ignorant and unnecessary comments. I understand what you were trying to provide to people here, that combo is great for that type of shooting. I love your wildlife photos that show up in other posts. If you have more examples of the 1DX/85 to post here i'm sure i as well as others would like to see them. Keep up the good work.

Form what i have read in other posts, they may have to make a design change with the lever to engage the teleconverter. I heard it may need a lock to avoid switching it on accident. Don't quote me on it, but it is a possibility.

Isn't there another web site that is "Birds as Art".  I'd guess this is a play on that, maybe trying to capture all the miss typed google searches.  :-*

Do birds fart?

Heck yes, they could clear a room  ;D

EOS Bodies / Re: New Pro Canon body tested by Steve McCurry???

Yep, first thing i thought was some type of armor for the body, not a new camera. He used a few different bodies and brands for the shoot.

Lenses / Re: With my 5D MK III is an f/2.8 lens really needed???
« on: November 27, 2012, 05:44:00 PM »
2.8 also gives a much nicer background blur, and can be shot at 2.8 without IQ loss. I wouldn't trade my 70-200 2.8 is II for anything......well, except for a 600 f4 is II

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Has anyone ordered from DigitalRev?
« on: November 18, 2012, 12:37:33 PM »
I live in the USA and ordered hoya filters from them for a big savings. There were no issues with receiving the items, but one of the filters had a manufacturing defect. I had to return it to them because it is considered gray market goods and the us distributor wouldn't honor the warranty. The real issue i had from that point was that from the time i sent it back until the time i received the replacement was about 2 months. They paid me back for the return shipping however. Bottom line, the initial shipment went well (if the filter wasn't defective), but you will not have a US warranty assuming that's where you live. I am not bashing them, but i may think twice about ordering anymore goods from them.

1Dx
f2.0 200mm

Is it just me or do gary's shots of these animals on the previous pages just don't look "THAT" awesome. They seem grainy, a bit blurry here and there and the bokeh is just not beautiful. Compared to other shots posted here, these look more like rebel than 1dx. No offense, but I really want to know what's wrong cause that is not what you await from a $13000 setup (1dx+200mm 2.0)

Your first post ever (at least under this alias) and you put down a guy? Go find something better to do with your time.

.....or wait for the big mp body, if they will let you wait for it to be announced and launched. It might be around $9,000, and will likely be a landscape/studio shooters dream machine.

I'd like to at least hear a direct statement from canon about development, that way we would have an idea as to whether it will be a $3,000ish D800 competitor or a $8,000+ 1 series monster.
