Unless you have no way to convert it in post, no it is not worth doing directly.  Shooting in color gives you options when you convert to black and white.
Err...if you're shooting in RAW (isn't everyone these days?)....you should still have all the information if you want, so even if you set the camera for B&W the RAW image if you bring it off..you can turn it back to color if you want....RAW should have all the information no matter what 'format' or style your shooting in...right?

I did not know that 7D shoots RAW VIDEO ;)

Some people like shooting with the camera in B&W mode.  It's less flexible, but it helps them get into the B&W way of seeing things.  But everybody is different.  Try it and see what you think.

Yeah but at monochromatic why is the ISO named "B&W ISO"?

Does it have less grain?

Hey everybody,

My question is this:

I want to shoot a small clip in B/W and I want to know if it's worth shooting B/W directly from the camera.

If I shoot B/W does it come with more quality? I own a 7D

Thanks ;)

I'm not looking for a professional Tripod. I'm looking for something that allows me to do panand tilt shots without shaking.

Hey,

Once again I need some feedback from you fellas.

So, I have a 7D and recently I bought a Samyang 35 1.4 and since I find my tripod very weak I don't trust my gear on it .   :-[

- Mostly for Video
- Less than 300 $
- Smooth

Thanks in advance for your help ;)

Lenses / Samyang 35 1.4 adds grain?
« on: July 14, 2012, 12:43:54 PM »
Hey,

I recently acquired the Samyang 35 1.4 and yesterday while I was testing it I found something strange. So, when I use f22 and I look thru the viewfinder I realized it has alot of grain. Is this normal? I have a Canon 50 1.8 and I never noticed something like that. I used a 7D.

Is it a bad copy?

Thanks alot as always ;)

The last link is for a real LCDVF but it's cheaper than on it's own website. Or it's also a knockoff?!

EOS Bodies - For Video / Viewfinder - Help

Good afternoon,

I own a 7D and I mostly shoot videos, therefore I'm looking to buy a viewfinder but as always I have no clue which one is the best. I've done some research and I've found this:

http://hi-techwonder.com/product.aspx?idProduct=2674

http://hi-techwonder.com/product.aspx?idProduct=2090

http://niobo.pt/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=315_316&products_id=2845

Has anyone tried any of them and has some feedback to help me with my choice?

I know the best would a zacuto but I can't spend that much. (Sorry if the site is in portuguese but I only want to show you the name and price)

Thanks in advance  ;)

J live, thanks a lot for your answer. There's just one thing that is bothering me. Why must I (Yeah I know it's not a must, I can try whatever I want :) ) shoot at 1/50 when shooting with 24p.

What's does it exactly do? Thanks in advance

Hey, Im interested in buying this lense but there's something that Im not understanding. Is it 2.8-4 or 2.8-4.5? I've seen both.

Also, is the Tamron 17-50 2.8 a better option?

Thanks in advance.
