EOS Bodies / Re: 70D what do you think?

I don't know if you've take a look at the updated preview of the 70D made by dpreview but it really doesn't look so bad at 3200 or 6400 iso... in studio and in the "real world"

A number of us posted on a thread some time ago (a few months?) - about the time from R&D on new technology and putting into a new DSLR, and the time between initial announcement, to production and final release.
Quote
The most knowledgable people (including some CR contributors who work in electronics / R&D) - said that the process would usually take some years with 'new technology', into something like an DSLR.

So, I believe Canon could have a new sensor in the 7DmkII - as well as 1 or 2 other 'great features' (eg improved AF, eg more pts and dual focus LiveView & improved optical focus).

Hoping for such a camera, sometime in 2014!

Regards

Paul

I guess you're right Paul. In terms of marketing this new body has to be really well positionned ; well above the new 70d in terms of specs and price  but it can't be in competition with the 5DIII even if it's a FF body (6D is not the problem, this body isn't for wildlife or sport shooting, the 5DIII can easily do it).

So i see its specs and price between those two bodies with high fps (8 to 10), great AF, high iso capabilities but not as good as the 5DIII (FF can't be matched by crop body for now), a weather sealed body and a better version of the sensor of the 70D...  I don't see the Wifi in (it would be an upgrade compared to the 5DIII).

No announcement before 2014 not a surprise !

With that kind of rumor, that means a lot of 70D (and 7D) bodies will be sold because it will be an interesting and very capable dslr before the 7D II will be officialy announced and available ; and it means too a lot of time to work on this 7D II that will be a far better body for sure !

They just can't announce two dslr bodies in a 6 months span which can interest the same population of photographers (mostly sport and wildlife ones) that's why i'm confident in a far better body with the 7D II

Just a rumor, no panic 8)

At 3200 iso it doesn't look so bad at all, what did you expect, the result of 2000/2800 € FF bodies (6D and 5D mark III) on a 1100 € crop body, are you serious ;)

You realize there is a handy comparison tool at TDP, right?

I know but i mean in real situation, in a rainforest for example...

But definitely a great lens like all the new ones made by Sigma !

I guess 2 bodies and my 70-200 f/4 L IS and 300 f/4 L IS are still lighter than one body and the 120-300 f/2.8... That's the huge point for me

71
i would be curious to see it compared to my canon 300 f/4 IS, because the weight difference is so huge but how is the real difference between them in term of sharpness ?

and i would be interesting to see Sigma working on a 200-400 f/4 or a 100-400 f/4-5.6 with the same quality and sharpness...

Wow really expensive, here in France we can buy a new one for 1100€...
I think he was saying the new 7D, meaning when they first came out...
Quote
New 7D had a price tag of 1699EUR in Slovenia
Note that he stated: "HAD" not has...   But I can't be sure...
Yes, when it first came out. Still, vendors nowadays want approx. 1239 EUR for the 7D. If 5D Mark III were $2500 as it is in the US, I would have had it a long time ago. It's 2990 EUR ($3900).

Sorry i misunderstood it, you're right

I expect this 70D to be a good surprise in term of overall quality and specifications like the 6D is and the future 7DII to have the same level of quality the 5DIII has.

So it means a 70D in the 1200-1500€/$ range and the future 7DII in the 2000-2500€/$ range...

So beside the 1D serie (X, C and future big mega pixel body), i see the canon classification with this new 70D as the equivalent apsc body line to the 6D full frame body line and th future 7D Mark II or 8D (some mention that name) as the equivalent apsc body line to the 5D Mark III...

I hope that 70D will use Cf card, i ordered today a new one ;)
