Just to really drive the point home (and no doubt gather up some more bad Karma from the Flat Earthers who persist with this unsupportable belief...)

For driving home the point, you get 1 applaud.
I think this problem was only made worse by the D800's launch . pity that this is coming back again.

I've never owned a Nikon product, but lately I've been eying a few of there cams. The d7000 is one that interests me since its similar to the canon 7d, and can be found for less.

The Nikon D7000 in my personal opinion is nowhere near a good a camera as the 7D . In manual mode, all modern cameras are as roughly as good.

Where the D7000 wins: Low light is good in Jpeg in the D7000 (i'm assuming the built in noise reduction is pretty good) but RAW - its the same as the 7D .

Where the 7D wins : But in AV and TV modes , the D7000 seems to get it wrong . A lot of indoor shots end up with longer than needed shutter in AV mode and in TV everything is unnecesarily shallow and blury even at the same ISO as  the 7D.

I know this is anecdotal evidence and I dont have test shots to prove this but i get to play with a D7000 often and I hate it. Even the ergonomics suck.

i don't think the 7D is replaceable at the time being. its the cornerstone piece of canon marketing . the 1dx and 5dmk3 seem to fill in the space that the 7D created. I think the 7D is that camera that was meant for the high end enthusiast but not not pros. explains the price . anything below the 7D is for amateurs , anything above is for pros.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: A dilemma - 7d -> 5d mk ?

I would avoid the 5D mk2 at all costs . If you own the 7D this will a step backwards in terms of AF , slow to lock on and getting it wrong in low light. Its pointless to have great low light capabilities and not be able to lock on to the subject.

ps. I know some people might says that their 5D mk2 is just fine in the AF department but I used to own one and the 7D is 100 million times better in the AF department .

85 f1.2 . This is the best lens god ever made. Just bought one and it has not left the body and doesn't look like it will for the next few months. amazing. broke now but at least I'm happy ? LOL

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 7D - Wait or buy?
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:48:36 PM »
Buy ! Honestly i rate this camera better than the 5DmkII . No point having FF and high ISO when it can't even get proper autofocus in low light. Sometimes ( i did say sometimes) the 5D mk II even misses in bright lights . Never had a problem with the 7D.
