EOS Bodies / Shooting Tethered with 5D mk3

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has a workaround for using Capture One or LR3 or 4 with the 5dmk3 for tethered shooting?

I need to shoot tethered tomorrow and I really don't want to have to use old gear after splashing out on a couple of new bodies.

Hi guys,

Hadn't used my 7d in about a year and i powered it on today and the display inside the viewfinder (meter etc)... is all off.

Have I accidentally changed a setting? ANyone had this?

Australia / 5d3 and 1dx preorders

Just added a 5d3 and a wireless trans to my 1dx preorder from Steve in the pro dept in teds Melb.

Excited for new kit. Their list price for the 5d3 is 4200 for some reason but they said it won't be released at that.

I went to preorder from bh but with customs and postage that added 450 to it so it wouldnt be a big saving.

Hopefully I book a job os around the release!

EOS Bodies - For Video / 100mm L Macro for video

I am shooting a fashion video look book next weekend, and will be using two 5Ds, on one i'm mounting a 50 f1.2 lens, and the other i want at around 100mm. I don't really know whether to use my 70-200 f2.8 or tripod mount my 28-300 at 300 (compression etc).

My other option is my 100L macro.. Has anyone had experienced this with people, and not used as a macro lens? I know it is good for stills with portraits... but how does it handle video?

Software & Accessories / COMPACT FLASH PROBLEM!! - help!

Hey everyone... hopefully someone can give me some advice on what to do here.

One of my staff shot video of a client today on a 5dMk2 with a 8gb Sandisk Extreme 60mbs card.

Now the videos are visible and watchable on the back of the camera and in my other 5dmk2 and my 7d. However when i plug it into my card reader (Lexar Firewire 800 CF Reader)... it will not show in any of the 2 MacBooks and the iMac i used. I've tested other CF cards in it and it works fine with them.... so the reader isn't faulty.

I then tried plugging the cameras directly into the computer so they show up as a mass storage device. Neither 5dmk2's will do it with this troublesome card... yet will happily do it with other cards.

I haven't got disk utility as my computers are running Lion.

What should i do next?! Besides swear and kick things....

Lighting / Photoflex TritonFlash Battery kits

Has anyone used these? We had great results from a hire kit.

We use Bowens studio packs and Elinchrom mono lights in the studio but i can't justify how expensive their battery kits are for how much i use them..

Has anyone owned these?

EOS Bodies / 1dx and Ethernet

I am setting up a project where we currently use d3x's with the twin CF slots and GPS.. data backups and GPS are a priority. Both of these on the current 1 series were a problem because the GPS option was a big extra expense and the mixed SD and CF combo scared the client off. However our 4 bodies are all hitting their use by and now we are considering the 1dx...

Canon has covered what we found them lacking on the previous models. But the thing that interests me is ethernet... we currently go through 4 sets of 2 (1 is a backup) 32gb Sandisk 90mbs cards every day...  Now with ethernet there has to be a way that we can go from camera to recording on a solid state drive of some description... it is in aviation so spinning disks wouldn't last long...

Anyone have any ideas on how this would work? Obviously we don't know exactly how it would work... but i'm just planning a proposal and need a basic workflow.

I am sick of carrying two bodies on photojournalism gigs.... is it worth the 3k?

Currently i have 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 is2 on two FF bodies... so obviously I'm losing a 1.5-2 stops of light, but it's always during the day and the 5d2 ISO can comfortably sit at 640 for my needs.

The reviews online are quite favourable but i'd love some forum members' opinions.

Wireless tethering is getting too difficult/dangerous in my studio, especially when shooting free and having clients, stylists, assistants, AD's etc tripping over cables and damaging cameras/computers/people.

Does anyone have any experience with Canon WFT-E4 II A wireless transmitter for the 5dmk2?

Worth the money?

Anyone know of any generic copies?

Just thought i'd open up a thread on where we buy gear?

Options I have seen and thoughts on the are:

In Aus:

DWI - "sydney" - All imported from HK, over $1000 you can get hit with tax, online credit card payments require you to fax ID and address proof

DD Photo - never purchased from them but heard good things.

Teds - rude staff in Melb cbd

JB Hifi - nice staff and will price match, but their range and lowest prices arent always competitive enough.

Hey everyone,
I recently lost an accessory bag that among a few wireless triggers, i also lost 2 5mk2 battery doors and a 7d battery door.

Struggling to find replacements online (this will teach me for not hiding it in the battery grip).

Anyone know where to find some?

I need it to be posted to Aus.
