First post here.

1. How do I change the local time? I do not see the option in preferences.
2. I just got off the phone with Amazon. Long story short, I was told that the 5DM3 that I preordered on March 2nd was scheduled to ship on March 19th and arrive on March 20th.

I sure hope so! I ordered on the 2nd of March also and I have not received anything from Amazon on ship date or expected ship date for that matter.

Same boat here. I've heard reports of people who ordered the kit received expected shipping dates but I've heard nothing for body only. And the body only is what I'm concerned with.

Has anyone that ordered just the body from Amazon heard from them? I have seen posts stating that people who have ordered the kits have received emails from Amazon. I placed my order for just the body on March 2nd in the morning but have not had any updates since then either in the form of an email or online.

I ordered body only around 2:30am CST and have not heard a single word from Amazon, yet. At this point I'm hoping for a shipping notice before an update email.

I was thinking of a pro card until good ol' Chuck said no to UHS. I was also on the fence with SD size until I got my hands on the manual and verified I can set video to record to the SD card. For $3780 it's not surprising they have it IN stock hah.
That's really a nuts price.

My thoughts exactly! Especially when you can buy the same thing locally for not much more and get a full Canon Australia warranty! Not sure what DigitalRev have been thinking lately, they're usually at least $1000 less than local prices.

But that price is in US $ isn't the AU price of the body somewhere around 49,999 AU$? Ok, so not really that much, but you guys sure have to pay out the nose for everything.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III Shipment Update
Very refreshing news in light of Canon's recent DSLR and lens introductions:
 
A reliable source tells me that the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR (both bodies and kits) are in the Canon warehouse waiting to be shipped to retailers perhaps on Friday (3/16). Also, it sounds like the day-1 volume is going to be strong.

I don't think it has been mentioned as I'm not going to re-read all 15 pages but I have been following this thread for a while... Newegg lists March 31st as the availability for the kit. I ordered body only from Amazon so as much as I'd love to have it around the 22nd, I won't expect it before April.

Just noticed on Amazon that the 5DIII body says "not yet released" while the 5DIII kit with 24-105 f/4L lens says "will be released on March 31, 2012." Is this a good sign or bad?

I was just coming to post the same. I'd say it could go either way. I'd assume the body only will be available no later than the kit and am hopeful that it may be available a day or more before. I also hope that the March 31st date is Amazons way of saying "end of March" but putting a number to comfort people. Regardless, putting a date up puts my mind at ease a bit, but only a bit.

I used to bring my S95 with on all my bike rides. It was in a small backpack but it sill came along for all road or trail riding. The S100 will more than handle anything you can throw on it while on a bicycle and can handle falls as long as you don't fall ON it. I'm looking to pick up a D20 since I sold the S95 but that would also go kayaking, climbing, hiking, into the water, and any adventurous situation. In the end I'd say go D20 if you plan on dropping it or submerging it, but I'd take an S100 when I know I won't be going in the water or getting caught in the rain.

Right, so the 5D3 is being sold, at profit, for $3500. That's £2,225. VAT is currently 20%, so that's an additional £445. So bottom line is it should cost a maximum of £2,670. Rather than the current recommended retail of £2990.

I'm not sure how this works - surely international retailers are miffed that international chains can make much more profit?

Also worth noting: Ordering it internationally stands the chance of not getting charged duty. And even if you did, it works out £300 cheaper than buying it from a UK site. Just saying.

The $3500 US price is before tax. Tax differs between cities in the US so all MSRPs do not include tax. If I were buying local tax would be 6.5% but nearing 10% as I approach Chicago. But 0% from Amazon :-D

The $3500 price in US is including the American tax (vat) and profit. When the camera is shipped in UK the taxes and profit is not included ( witch the raw price is far less than $3500). in my opinion the companies that imports the camera is adding at least 100% profit.

that why the prices are so high compared with US.
