Yes those! :)
Thank you Kindly wickidwombat

The Guy on does a good video about this. He does however come at the question from a very different angle.  That is to say less technical point of view then some of the replies above. I'm not making fun of any one-  it's just that he (he's called Kai) talks about how the lens feels and how 50mm is a kind of natural field of view on a FF camera. If I had any real computer skills I would leave the specific URL here, but you know google and 50mm and theirs are among the first videos come up.

bluegreenturtle Thanks for the link.
So let me see if I understand... when shooting 1080 30p @ 1/30 I'm in effect smudging the picture?

You see I'm a TV camera man I shoot on the station's Sony XDCAM-HD 1080 60I (soon to be laid off, now getting work with 5Dm III), I'm coming at this from a video point of view. When we add shutter speed the video my TV Eye sees jitter and we will add this for effect or to be better able to slowmo in post.  I should just let the "Jitters" go and I'll get crisper video, yes?

Thanks again

EOS Bodies - For Video / 30p and shutter speed- 1/30 or 1/60 and why?
« on: March 31, 2012, 12:19:15 PM »
I'll be shooting video with my new 5D III and I keep reading that I should double the frames per second
30p/25p/24p to get the proper shutter speed:  30p->1/60 25p->1/50(PAL) and 24p->1/50 (closest speed).
SO my question is why and  that I might better understand, what is the logic behind this?

Shooting 1080/30p I find that shutter speeds over 1/60 look very Jittery and I know that that can be used as an effect or look. I guess I find 1/60 a little jittery as well, so I windup shooting at 1/30- am I making a mistake?

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mk III Owners - are you happy?

Currently HAPPY :) on the way to DELIGHTED ;D

If Apple doesn't get their act together as far as Aperture 3 recognizing 5D III RAW files I might have to jump ship. Aperture 3 freezes on me a lot. So far Lr 4 is smooth, I just have some interface learning to do. :P

Mine seems fine except for the blown/Hot pixel.  I did the "manual sensor cleaning thing" Cap on put it in manual clean mode for about a min. I guess it remaps the sensor and covers the hot pixel?  Well it worked :D

My 5D MIII has a blowen pixel as well center right.  Only shows up around iso 1600 and up. I've heard people say that most chips have them and that its a sad fact of life- I don't know.
You know my 7D has the same thing, only ever saw it in the 7D's video.
I work with a Sony XDCAM-HD (I know CCD Not CMOS But).  We get blown pixels a lot all you do is Black balance three times in a row and the camera basically masks the bad pixels out. I guess for stills you can just brush it out but in video its a big pain.

Am I sending my new camera back too? :-\

I understand the desire for a top zipper, I'm with you. That being said- the bag I got doesn't have one but I love it.
Check out  They are all about messenger bags but they sell a really very good camera insert.  The thing is you can design your own bag. I have 7d (soon 5D MIII), 24-70mm and 24-104mm, flash, EVF other bits and pieces.  I did add More padded dividers from an old Lowepro.  The medium bag will do, it will be Full, but if its just those items you listed... it will fit.  Oh and water proof too.

Just Cool 8)

Wow. Much bigger question then I thought :o

So its not like I dreamed this number up.  But it does seem to be a bit more complicated of a question.

I find my MP thirst is quenched a bit with at least one person, thanks  mb66energy, having the breakdown of how to go about thinking about it. And Canon-F1, having read 8-45mp, as least the 8 mp floor is somewhat established given what I think I remembered of 8Mp being the "standard or goal".

Interested to read others recollections or thoughts.  Or facts ;)

A long time ago I thought I remembered, reading or hearing, that 8MP was the goal or benchmark. That at 8MP this was the number that would be most analogous to film.

What IS the MP count- or is the question more complicated then this?

"Tell us what alternate sensors they tested for the D1 X, the 1D MK IV, the 5D MK II, the 7D, or any of the other dozen or more models.  Give us a link to the info."

Mt Spokane Photography, This is the point, to speculate, not to have any hard info.

I'm not trying to call you out here but your tone seems so final:

"I doubt that you will ever know what they tested.  Do you know anything about testing of any previous model?  It never is revealed because it doesn't matter."

I was just playing the speculation game with hippoeater.
