I think you couldn't do this roll less justice than to pre-shoot all pictures of it digitally.

+1 That's exactly how I felt, but much more politely put than this old Kodachrome user would have managed

You guy's are lucky, this sort of stuff is just outright banned at my local football ground

8.With the exception of authorised Media representatives holding accreditation issued by the club/event organiser, the taking of photographs or filming by any means inside the Ground is prohibited. In addition, no transmission or reproduction, in whole or in part, in any form, or by any means, electronic, mechanical, recording or otherwise is permitted save with a special authorisation in writing by the club/event organiser and, where appropriate, the prior consent of The Scottish Football Association, the Scottish Premier League, the Scottish Football League or appropriate body.

Then again they also have what might just possibly be the daftest rule ever for a football stadium

10.Unnecessary noise such as from the use of radio sets and behaviour likely to cause confusion, annoyance or nuisance of any kind, is not permitted in any part of the Ground.

Why bother with DigitalRev when ProCamerashop is cheaper and based in the U.K?

Good shout. I like DRev but on the shopping list I'm looking at I would be saving £153 going PCS. I've been watching DRev prices for some time now and yes they are a lot cheaper than UK shops but they are going up.

I've not bought from ProCamerashop anyone have any experience?

wow twice the price and I have to focus heck it’s only curved glass   ;D

Thanks all for the input, I just really liked the idea of having a 40mm (equivalent) on aps-c I have no idea and cannot comment on the complexities of a 25mm lens design for a 44mm flange, ah well my dreams are shattered  :'(  ……..

Lenses / Re: Its official now. The new EF 100-400 from Canon is on its way!

I suggest that you consider purchasing a Visual Echoes "Better Beamer" to use with your flash.  In difficult low contrast situations, it will make a huge difference.  Its basically a fresnel lens that focuses your flash so that it can illuminate things like birds and wildlife at a distance.
Sold by Adorama, B&H, Amazon,  etc.  You must pick one that fits your exact flash unit.  For $36.95, you will gain a lot of capability in lighting at a distance.

BTW, here is a small bird shot with my 100-400mmL with a Better Beamer.

What a great tip, thank you for sharing. Do you only get one chance at this or do the birds not really notice the light difference?

Lenses / 25mm EF Pancake
« on: February 23, 2013, 11:34:26 AM »
I have no empirical proof but I believe the 40mm pancake is a bit of a success for Canon. I certainly hear very few detractors on CR and it’s definitely on my list.
Do you think there is any chance they will make a 25mm pancake to go along with it? using the same shell as the 40 would it take much lens design?
