Take a look at LRTimelapse.  Specifically, this:

Granted, that's more towards very long term, multiple shots, but it may help.

Lenses / Re: EF 100mm f2,8 L IS Macro... is IS worth it?
« on: June 23, 2013, 07:23:00 AM »
The only problem I have with the 100 2,8L IS macro is it didn't come with the tripod collar.  When I got this lens, it was for a lot of 1/200, f/14, iso 100 1:1 close up macro work.  However, now I've stepped back a bit and started trying to get backgrounds in my macro shots.  The IS helps tremendously for that.  I love everything about this lens.  I had reservations about getting since I already owned the non IS version, but I am glad I went with it.  One thing to mention is I can AF at close to 1:1 where you can't do that with the non IS.  I'd prefer to be manual and rock back and forth but sometimes with some small insects, the AF just works better.

I found this bee.  Either it was too cold when he came out of hibernation or he was sick.  He let me put him on paper and take pictures.  This is with a 7D and a 580exII flash.

Those flashes are $580.00 each.  The transmitter is $400.  That's $1,560.  A good set of Pocket wizards are $400-500 and a 580 ex II can be picked up for $300-400.

It's an optical trigger- it is always going to fire to drive the slave flash even when it is off.

My 5D2 did better than my 5D3...  Mostly just because of the how the shoot laid out.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5D2 vs 5D3 low light AF
« on: June 18, 2012, 12:09:29 PM »
I shoot low light concerts quite a lot and the 5D2 and the 50D, which have the same AF, they always struggled when you go off of the center focus point.  It drives me crazy and has always been a pain in the butt to deal with.  The 5D3 has no such problems at all.  I still have my 5D2 and will use it if the lights are 'ok,' but for low to no light, it'll be the 5D3.

I'd like to point out that Amazon still doesn't have this in stock.  In an email from them, I was told that Canon did not release it yet.  When I pointed out that over 10 stores on their own page have it in stock, I was told, again, that the manufactuer has not released it.  I am using AmEx points and giftcards so I can't just cancel it and order it from 100's of other places that have it in stock. I've never used Amazon for a launch product, but I never will again.  They've been a complete joke through all of this process.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Rebates & BG-E11 Shipping Updates

For those wondering- according to amazon, it has NOT be released:

"I've checked into the battery grip, "Canon BG-E11 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera" and this hasn't been released yet and unfortunately, the expected release date is not known."

Remember folks, the most important feature of any camera made ever is the MEGAPICKLES. If it isn't extremely large then by all means, the camera is just absolutely worthless. You cannot, under any circumstances, have a studio quality camera unless you have higher MEGAPICKLES than that your competitor.

I can confirm that Amazon still hasn't shipped the bg-e11 and still has zero updates on it.  I know, I know- many of you are suprised.

I got inspired to go play with bugs.  This is my 100mm 2.8 macro, a 5D2 and a 580exII.  I made a snoot with tube and a bowl to difuse light.  I need to make a better version of the snoot- I did not line it to throw light.  I plan on putting foil in it to bounce the light more.  Also, I need to play with on crop 7D for the reach.
