Lenses / Canon Patent for EF-EF-M Adapter with Improved Auto-Focus Speed
« on: February 24, 2015, 03:42:53 AM »
http://www.canonwatch.com/canon-patent-for-ef-ef-m-adapter-with-improved-auto-focus-speed/

"Egami (translated) spotted what could be Canon’s best move to push their mirrorless cameras. A new EF-EF-M adapter that should deliver better AF speed when using EF and EF-S lenses. While the AF performance of Canon’s new EOS M3 is excellent with the native EF-M lenses, AF performance is limited when using EF lenses via the currently available adapter. If Canon puts such an adapter on the market it would a huge selling point for the EOS M3. Access to Canon’s extended lens lune-up, and same AF performance as with native lenses!"

Good news for all M3 interested photographers....

Canon General / Camera sales in Japan 2014
« on: February 20, 2015, 07:09:49 AM »
"BCNranking published the full 2014 camera sales date in Japan. The good news is that Sony dethroned Olympus and is now number one in the mirrorless system camera market in Japan. And in Japan mirrorless is very strong and on par with DSLR in terms of cameras sales. The (unsurprisingly) bad news is that Sony really holds no more any meaningful share of the DSLR market:"

EOS-M / Question on USM speed on M/M3 with L lenses
« on: February 14, 2015, 03:37:49 AM »
Does anybody know, if the speed of an USM powered lens, used on an EosM/M3 shows an delayed reaction when focussing?
I do not mean the AF speed od the camera. A member of our local photoclub has this problem, when he uses one of his L lenses with the adapter on the Eos-M. The original 55-200mm lens works much faster. The camera focusses and about a second later, you can hear and see the reaction of the lens. This phenomenon does not appear with his 55-200mm.

I just ask, because I am a little bit willed to buy the M3, if it has an good IQ.

"Sony Artisan Brian Smith: “someone might just make a 50mp camera for less than 3700 bucks!”

Sony Artisan Brian Smith commented after the Canon 5Ds launch:

Canon fired the first shot in the Great Mega-Pixel War of 2015, announcing a pair of 50.6 mp Canon 5DS cameras – This is just the first shot! Expect to hear more announcements soon… Who knows, someone might just make a 50mp camera for less than 3700 bucks!

He is likely “hearing” the same rumors I got….sounds exactly like the A7rII to me ;)

Sony has now plenty of time to “fight back” with the A7rII as the Canon 5ds preorders will start on April 30 only at Amazon. And shipment is June/July."

I read this on www.sonyalpharumors.com:
"So just to let you dream a bit …here is what I got and what you don’t have to take seriously for now:"

“Sony has a new global electronic shutter sensor that will be put into our new flagship e-mount camera. The top shutter speed is 1/32000 with flash sync capabilities at that speed.
Sensor resolution will be well above 50MP
It will have In body stabilization like the A7II
A new type of AF will be implemented, it is like DFD from Panasonic but faster.
196 points of autofocus covering 94%
-2 ev af acquisition
faster autofocus than current a6000 CIPA rated
no 4k on this camera
NEW Bionz X2 processor, 70% faster per core (quad core)
no pricing on camera just yet, expected to be $2700-$3000 for body
TWO new lenses will be unveiled: 85mm Zeiss 1.8 with the performance of the 55mm Zeiss. 135-400mm Sony G 5.6 lens. pricing will be $1300 and $2000
Also: a new A mount camera will be announced, the same processor and DFD like AF module will be in the new camera, as well as SLT flip up mirror mechanism..."

I need some help, please:
As I read, there is an new 6D-firmware. I tried to get it on my 6D. There was the success-message after updating. I took 2 shots after updating. But after restarting (switch off and on again), the 6D stays black.
No reaction after starting on the display, no reaction if I press any button.
I tried to downgrade to the 1.1.4 firmware, but nothing happened.
There is just an small white dot for one second on the lower left display

Is there anything I can do to get this problem fixed? Or do I have to send it to CPS?

Thanks
