Dpreview writes:
"If you can justify the price tag it's hard to fault Canon's new APS-C flagship. With class-leading image quality, fast operation and excellent handling the EOS 7D is everything a semi-pro model should be--and the excellent movie mode will be a welcome bonus to those that like their pictures to move. Arguably the best APS-C SLR on the market today."

Technical Support / Problems with 6D front wheel & AF issue - Advice needed
« on: November 04, 2014, 05:59:46 AM »
May I ask you for some advice:

My 6D has an temporary problem with the front wheel. I am (problem occurs sometime rare, sometime each hour one time) not able to change the setting (Av, time,...) with the front wheel. But the wheel on the high-format grip works well. (If I remove the battery grip, I does not fix the problem). I have to remove the battery for some minutes, then the front wheel works well again.
The second temproray problems belongs to the AF: In servo mode, it occurs that the AF stops working, although the trigger is pressed halfway. The I have to press the trigger button a few time, then it works again.
Did anybody have such a problem too? What was the problem of your 6D?

My problem is, that the CPS service company  returned the cam without finding anything. They just took 5 shots (as the numbers of shots is just 5 higher than my last shot).

Lenses / Which prime lens for nature fotography?
« on: October 10, 2014, 06:22:11 AM »
I saved some money, I´d like to buy an prime for nature photography (animals, birds,...). I will use it for day trips, no longer expeditions.

As they are not cheap, I´d like to ask which lens to buy?

300mm 2.8 with 2x converter?
400mm 2.8 with 2x converter?
500 or 600 mm 5.6 with an 1.4x converter?

Optically, all 4 lenses are now very good. (my old 400mm DO IS was not).
I will carry it around all day long - so low weighted will be an plus, but I want an good optical quality too. So the 2x converter is not the best solution....

But which one to decide? Can you give me an advice?
My cameras are: 5DII, 6D and 7D

PowerShot Cameras / G7 Picture @ Dpreview.com - High iso quality?
« on: October 07, 2014, 04:25:53 AM »

There are some shots @ higher Iso. IMO, the IQ @ 1600 Iso is a little bit weak. Or am I wrong? Do I expect to much from the G7?

I would like to buy an small camera one for my grandson

I am looking for an light & compact flashgun, that can be used external and on the camara-shoe.
I found the Godox Witstro AS360 and the similar looking Walimex Pro Light Shooter 360.

I like the ability to use additional lightformers. And these lightformers seem to be not expensive.

Does anybody own one of these products? Which one to prefer?
Can I use them wireless too without the 200€ expensive wireless adapter?

Report @ Dpreview:
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7222282087/nikon-d750-fx-dslr-announced

Nikon seems to recycle the D610 sensor....

"The D750 features a 24MP CMOS sensor with an AA filter, and although Nikon (as usual) claims that this sensor is 'newly developed' it is probably based on the same sensor that we've seen in the D610 (and Sony A7)...."

cited from: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikon-d750/3

"The D750 inherits a version of the 51-point Multi-CAM 3500FX AF system that we've seen used in the D800/E and D810 but its 'II' version is actually more sensitive - rated down to -3EV. We haven't been able to really get a feel for how much difference this makes in normal use but in theory, the D750 should offer superior AF reliability in poor light compared to the D810 and D4S, which is quite something (and which might prompt more than a few D800 owners to 'upgrade' to the D750). Software & Accessories / Problem: Infrared Filter & 6D
« on: August 13, 2014, 04:04:00 PM »
I ordered a lot of new filters in the last weeks (thanksto all for the tipps for an good filfter-holder!). A 720nm infrared-filter has been ordered too.
My problem: When I use the filter on the 6D, the picture stays black. Tried it @ high and low iso, exposure time from 0,5 to 30"... but the picture stays black.

I read in an infrared form, that not each camera is able to deal with infrared filters. True? - Is the 6D not able to deal with the IR filter?

I want to buy an graduated filter kit for landscape photographing.

As Lee is very expensive, I am looking for cheaper, but still good graduated filters. Size 100x150mm

I found the company "Hitech".
Does anybody own this gratuated ND filters? Which quality to buy as there are some different types available?

I would suggest to buy 3 soft and 3 hard ND filters, and maybe 1 or 2 coloured filters (tabacco...)

Is this an good decision, or does anybody know another good product?
