Software & Accessories / Problem: Infrared Filter & 6D
« on: August 13, 2014, 04:04:00 PM »
I ordered a lot of new filters in the last weeks (thanksto all for the tipps for an good filfter-holder!). A 720nm infrared-filter has been ordered too.
My problem: When I use the filter on the 6D, the picture stays black. Tried it @ high and low iso, exposure time from 0,5 to 30"... but the picture stays black.

I read in an infrared form, that not each camera is able to deal with infrared filters. True? - Is the 6D not able to deal with the IR filter?

I want to buy an graduated filter kit for landscape photographing.

As Lee is very expensive, I am looking for cheaper, but still good graduated filters. Size 100x150mm

I found the company "Hitech".
Does anybody own this gratuated ND filters? Which quality to buy as there are some different types available?

I would suggest to buy 3 soft and 3 hard ND filters, and maybe 1 or 2 coloured filters (tabacco...)

Is this an good decision, or does anybody know another good product?

Software & Accessories / Tablet to use as remonte for 6D
« on: June 22, 2014, 12:34:06 PM »
I am looking for an (non Apple) >= full HD tablet, sized 10" plus with an high brightness.
I will try to use the tablet as an remote for my 6D (macro, try to begin portrait photography).
Connection over Wifi only, no LTE e.g. is needed.

Do you know an good product for this?

I recognized that my 70D´s AF performance and accuracy varies from lens to lens.
The German "Color Foto" magazine compared the AF perfomrance and accuracy between some Cams (SLR, MLils,...) and between some lenses. There the 70D was no winner.... It perfomred best with the Sigma 18-35, worst with the 50mm Macro... (Lesser than half of all shots were sharp. NEX-7´s shots were over 90% sharp...
Ok. I read the test and was a little bit disappointed. I see thath some lenses perform better, some worser on the 70D. Noteable: mirorless Cams are most superior to the SLR (in this price class)

My question: I´d like to know, why my 70D´s AF performance varies so much, using 3 different 70-200 2.8L lenses when I shoot moving objects? I rented 2 from my clubfriends, one I own by myself. Mine was fast and mostly sharp, one was better (more sharp pictures), one noteably worser. But why?

Nikon announces updated 400mm F2.8 telephoto and 1.4x teleconverter  @ Dpreview.com

Sometimes I think, the "Year of Lenses" excludes Canon....
Where are the new primes and other "L" lenses?

Does anybody own the MindShift Gear rotation180 Professional? How is it to work with the rotationg system? Carrying comfort good? Or better to take think tanks backpack?
It is an expensive backpack (price in Euro is the same as in Dollars! ( a plus of near one third), but the rotating system (copied from think tank), looks quite interresting.

As I am still looking for an backpack for hiking with an "easy access" to the camera section without removing the backpack from the back, I tested 2 in the meantime.

The first, the contrejour 40 from click elite was a little bit tricky, because first, the price is more than 50% higher than in the US!  Second, there is an new model of this backpack existing, but was not shipable in January. Third: So I got the old version with freaky zippers that got stuck every time I opened the side access compartement. -> I sent it back.

The second was the Evoc cp26. An very well built backpack, but a little bit to small for hiking if you want to carry some food with.

Another one, I want to have an look at, are the Benro backpacks with the side access. Any suggestions with benros Ranger pro 400 or Beyond 400?

Software & Accessories / Benro backpacks - any experience?
« on: February 25, 2014, 03:06:18 PM »
I am still looking for an well built daypack for  6D/7D plus grip, 100-400, 70-200, 100mm macro, flash and 1-2 smaller lenses (50mm, 28mm, 60mm macro).

I found benro producing backpacks too.
Does anybody have an experience with one of these models?:
Beyond 400N, Coolwalker 300N, Reebok 300N or Sherpa 600

Much thanks
