Don't dismiss the 16-35 f2.8 this was taken with it, I have a 20x16 print and it has always done well in competitions.and for a low cost the Canon 20mm f2.8 is good for landscapes with it curved depth of field.

I too went to the how at the NEC and tried it out on my 5D3. The review says its soft at the edges at 600mm but what do you use 600mm for I use my 400mm canon for birds and motor racing so soft ate the edges is not a problem included is a full frame I took at the show 4000 iso the other pic is a crop from the same frame.

Here some with my 15-35 f2.8 Canon

I always use it for motor racing, I lock onto the car or bike then follow it holding the button in and use the shutter button to take a picture when it is framed right.

Lenses / Re: Focus Issues with EF 24-70mm 2.8 usm

I have the 24-70 F4 and it has bad focus shift, I have set the focus adjust to -20 and it will focus correctly at F8 .
any other aperture and it is off so I end up just using F8. It has been back to Canon but is no better. I did send my body back at the same time and have tried it on a 1Dx and it still has focus shift.

Lenses / Re: EF 24-70mm f4... bad below 3m focusing distance?
« on: June 25, 2013, 07:59:02 AM »
I do not have a problem with the resolution at 3mt and less I have found it very good right up to the closest focus point not using the macro. But I do get bad focus shift at 3 feet or less.

Mine is working fine with no problems on a Mac

Lots of comments about this after upgrading to firmware 1.2.1.
I have it on one of my battery's  in a 5D3. was working ok until I put firmware 1.2.1 on it

Are you shooting head and shoulders, full length or a family group. Is the flash at 4ft or 15ft are you using a straight reflector, off a brolly , though a brolly or in a soft box.
All factors will make a difference

Lenses / Re: Thoughts on Canon 20mm f/2.8?
« on: March 21, 2013, 12:20:08 PM »
Its a very good lens but it does have a curved plane of focus , no good for a straight pic of a brick wall wide open. but it is very sharp wide open, with the slight curved plane of focus you get the mid-distance that you have focused on sharp and the near foreground, the last reply suggested the 16-35mm  but in comparesent it is huge.
Do read this from Ken Rockwell http://kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/20mm.htm

So much for todays digital cameras, I did a lot of church interiors with a Bronica and regularly used f32
and made 20x16 prints no fall off with film
