Software & Accessories / Re: Lightroom or Aperture?

Another unique use of Aperture is the automatic photostream synching with the iOS 5 devices IPad/iPhone and other computers.

Also has easy exporting to MobileMe gallery and with a plugin Phanfare.

My experiences shooting volleyball with a 7D, single rapid strap and a monopod/light duty grip ball head have been pleasant enough. With frequent down time between matches, moving around with the sling strap/folded monopod combo and quick release grip certainly minimizes the "feel" of the 70-200, and composing/zooming  with handle reversed to the left and right hand on the controls feels sturdy.

I'be had it about 3 months. I have used it primarily for 'location' shooting. Has held its' charge well, shot nearly 200 golfers at an outing, primarily for a fill flash and the battery indicator barely moved.  Also used it indoors at a remote cabin and shot over 100 boy scouts and their families. No complaints with the battery component, but I bought it as a package

and the extra small soft box, while portable and easy to put together, is just a little small ( i.e. harsh) and not diffused enough as it comes out of the box (despite the internal diffuser).  easy to put together, all connectors come with it, including cables for remote triggering. I agree the pricing is a little steep, but the portability factor is great.

For a walk-around, all purpose, low-light - I'd consider the 16-35 II 2.8L, a bit pricey but very handy indoors, low light, no flash.  I see you are considering 'primes', but  I'd thought I'd throw out another option :)

Here's few shots if you like....JPEG right out of the camera (minimal, no PP) except the B/W which I simply desaturated b/c of horrible gym lighting angle and no time to properly process

Here are a couple of shots with the 16-35...

I'm still learning the lingo, but seems a little distorted at the edges at times, but overall, much sharper and probably focuses faster & more consistently than my 24-70. As stated, I need to calibrate that lens.

My problem with the 16-35 is I bought a 'thin' UV filter and can't keep a lens cap on it. I bought one that fits over ( not snapping in) but doesn't fit snug and I lost it  :-[

waiting on new filter so I can snap the 82 mm cover back in...

Newbie to site, just joined  after reading along for almost a yr. :)
Thought I'd put up some of my Volleyball shots and get feedback.
Using 7D, 70-200 II, AI servo zone focusing, manual settings with auto ISO (usually 3200), trying to stop action. Mostly all JPEG for the whole of last season, but recently purchased PS 5 and learning to shoot / edit RAW.
Just purchased a 35 1.4 prime for when I get close to the court because my 24-70 didn't seem to catch focus fast enough. Anyone else with this problem with the 24-70? I should probably have it calibrated to my body, but reluctant to send in body and lens - need I be ? Where ?
