Wow! That was really painful to watch. Are those guys just actors or are they really working pros? If working pros, they really sold their souls for a buck. That was just disgusting.

Canon seems to be onto something though. Marketing matters more than the product you offer. They obviously dumped a ton of money into this marketing campaign. They do have the best marketing in the industry overall though.

Anyone see that video of Chuck Westfall? He had the total look of a guy who's corporate overlord was just bending him over and telling him to like it.

haha I agree totally , that was terrible, I'm not a troll but still follow these forums as I did leave canon last year and go over to Nikon and wanted to see what you guys were thinking about the new cameras, personally I'm not impressed, but maybe the 5D4 and 1DX2 will have more innovation

Sony are definately leading the pack with sensors and currently supply Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Hasselblad, Phase One and even Canon for their high end compact model. Canon is over-due launching their next-gen sensor tech and maybe this will be it but going it alone is expensive.
50MP  low noise I dont think will be the challenge the processors now & the level of software are better able to deal with this than previous sensor tech. 50MP though may show up more weaknesses in older lenses which is why Canon are working on so many new lenses.

50MP 4K in full-frame will make an awsome video camera so expect the Cinema side to benefit if this rumor is true.

You want a 5D4 and maybe 2 50 mp cameras coming from Canon and Canon wants them all to compete against each other? you know thats not going to happen,

Interesting, I can't see it personally, a 5D4 is waiting its upgrade and will be the 4K camera, how can Canon release 2 50mps cameras in 2015 and not 1 of them be a 5D4 unless the 5D4 is 50 mp and does 4k! Highly unlikely!

9 pages on how bad these sensors are yay, oh are you trying to defend them again? please

Great response and i've learnt something thank you! I've never noticed this as i hardly ever shoot manual, anyone know why it seems to be more erratic on my 24 1.4 lens and not my 100mm, ? more testing needed etc

It seems then that the evaluative metering will start from the point of focus, but when switched to manual it will whole scene giving a brighter exposure

Thank you for all your replies, its nice to see i'm not going mad, it may not be a big deal, but when i switched to MF yesterday on a shoot, because my model wasn't inline with any 1 of my points, I had to manual focus, and then all my pictures were overexposed when I looked back at the images, I did only think this issue was with my combo 5D3 and 24 1.4 etc, thats why I reposted, but now reading the posts I see its with other lenses also

Please can you check your camera, in AV Mode and Evaluative Metering, do not move, and switch the lens to manual and back again to Auto AF and please look at your metering value does it change?

It doesn't seem to change with a different lens :o

But does with the 24mm

Thanks for your time,

Ok first off, no one promised you a 70D today, so your negative feelings have nothing to do with Canon and everything to do with your expectations.

if you want to shoot video on a large-sensor camera, you have to learn how to focus manually.  The motion picture industry has been doing it this way since it's inception and continues to do so.  We are very far away from having AF for video on a DSLR, with as many lenses as there are it would be extremely difficult to make them all work perfectly.  I mean do you really want to trust a camera to pull focus for you at the right time and to the right place?  Instead of complaining about technology that probably isn't available just make do with what you have.

Everyone else making videos with DSLR's and any other cinema camera do it this way, why can't you?  If you think the lack of this feature is what's holding you back from making great videos then you should go ahead and find a different gig.

And about switching to Nikon, I don't think switching is going to make the slightest bit of difference.  It seems like you want to blame the gear, a feature (or missing feature), and that could go on forever.  So like I said, try and make do with what you have, plenty of other people have made great stuff with the same gear.

Really well said

Hello and Thanks for the info, I had no idea about this, how many points can you program, and also, how do you switch to each one? I can see how you can program a point, but not use that point etc

I wonder if its possible to make the 5D3 -EV3 like the 6D?

Almost certainly not...

If not then I wonder how they are going to fix this problem

I wonder if its possible to make the 5D3 -EV3 like the 6D?

So chuffed after all this time :) well done all

Hello All,

Please remember to post your findings onto this link also, Its Canons forum, so far we have had Canon respond twice, the more we help them look into this, the more we may get a solution,

all the best

"not sure what the fuss is about"  it really is something to worry about when your working with the camera, You have a time limit to deliver photographs and you cant take the shot you need because of this, also there are not allot of golden opportunities to grab a great shot all the time, so you need fast AF when the moment arrives,

this is a problem and Im so hoping the 5D3 gets a load of Love this 2013

Merry Christmas all,

Don't go quiet on the matter, because Canon have shown interest, worst thing you can do,

Happy Holidays, remember to report your Focusing issues
