Boy, everyone is on the fine particle band wagon today.

Corn starch is biodegrabable.  It will become dissolved in the body, and eventually processed out. 

Saw dust, asbetos, brake pad powder are not.  They are bad for your lungs. 

I don't know what they use in India, but at the color run by us last year it was all essetnially food coloring. 

I'm still not sure I want to bring my DSLR though....

Off the wall thought....what if you set up your jewlery the way you want it with lighting, etc....then place a mirror in the right place and take a picture of the ring in the mirror?  You would then be taking a picture of the opposite side of the ring, and shouldn't get the reflection from the camera.

Also, you could place the camera at an oblique angle, so its refelction was at least mostly bouncing away from the lens.

I see you posted as I was typing....you've got some pretty sharp highlights from your light source there.  They also look underexposed.  Try absolutely blasting your flash at that thing, and fire it through a diffuser like a soft box that is much larger than your subject, or bounce it off a piece of foam board.  The idea is to make the powerful light come at the subject from every angle.    You may then be able to overpower the reflection of your camera.

I have the older XS...how does this compare?  Based on what I know of the T4i it looks to still be smaller than the XS.  That would be awesome for my astrophotography set up.  In a year or two when someone offers the Baader filter mod and I can get a body only of the EOS-b, I will probably be in and very excited.

I have not seen or handled the 6d.  It does look to have some pretty good features.  That said, I do have the 5DIII and I can say that there is not a more versatile camera out there in its price class.  Excellent high ISO, good FPS, enough MP for very many types of shooting.   Very good deals can be had too.

I'm thinking this could be $2499 body only.  Better AF, new sensor with lower noise, 10fps....doesn't sound cheap based on Canon's current pricing history.

The new updated lenses are performing very well.  I would like a TS-E lens and have heard the 45 is a great focal length. Would I like to break in to this market with an improved version?  Yes.  But at twice the price of the current?  No. 

I've got my eyes on the Samyang 24mm due out.  We'll see what it can do and at what price point.

My 2 cents: same time next year, 6D will be on Ebay for $1200 or less.

$1200 seems pretty optimistic, I'd expect something closer to $1500.

Not optimistic at all...in fact, 12 months after release I fully expect 6D to be about $1200, and perhaps even $1100. Read the tea leaves with 5D III price trajectory.

While I too think this is overoptimistic, I hope you are right.  For that price, I would face the wrath of the wife to add this as a second body to my 5DmkIII.

I think that CR trusts their normal vendors; let's reserve early judgement and see if they come through . . . Adorama aren't just normal internet jerk wads, they do have deals.  Maybe this was all premature.

True.  Quieted down a lot.  I was still, though, half expecting to see some folks in this thread threaten to sell all the stuff they bought from Adorama and switch to a different vendor over this 'non sale'.    LOL

Lighting / Re: 5D Mark II triggering 2 flashes

You can pick up a set of phottix strato II wireless triggers for fairly cheap.  The transmitter has ETTL pass through, so your 430 could sit on top of it on the camera (or be elsewhere if you mount your ETTL cable to the transmitter).  Your 580 would be attached to the receiver and fire in maual at whatever power you set.

At short studio distances, I think you'll be surprised to find that the 430 is only negligably less powerful than the 580.  I would consider the suggestion above to mount the 580 on camera, and use it to fire your 430.  That would be free and easy.

I'll definitely have my eye on the EOS M body.  If it has an OVF and improved AF speed, I could see this being my back up body to my 5DIII.  I know this technology will get there, just not sure if it gets there this round or not.  Could be an excellent alternative to getting a new P&S, though considerably more expensive I'm sure.

Lenses / Re: Need some advise: light sensitive lens indoors

What about the 40mm pancake?  At 2.8 its just one stop slower than your 135.  Unless you're already shooting at iso 12800, you can easily make up that one stop with ISO on the MKIII.  The lens is small, light and produces great colors and contrast.   And its DIRT CHEAP. 

If you're stuck on a zoom, what is wrong with the 24-105?  again, with the ISO peformance of the MKIII I have not seen problems using this lens in most indoor places.  Maybe a dark restaraunt or some place with 'mood lighting' would be an issue, but usually you have more control of the lights in your own home. 

Aside from that, you're looking at the new Tamron 24-70VC, or the old Canon 24-70.
