Don't go for a FF unless you are a serious shooter. I think you should stick to  60D/T4i if you don't spend much time on photography.
The T4i has higher ISO range but the difference is very little.
And about the 70D, it will be very pricey for first few months. At that price or less you will easily get a used 5D markII.

I'm not serious shooter, just a dad with 2 kids. I shoot with 5D III and my little P&S is RX1.

Higher ISO range doesn't mean cleaner image in lower light. It's all about sensor size - you will have more water when carry bigger bucket.

I just upgraded from a 7D (which I still have) to a 5Diii, and it's an amazing upgrade! I'm starting to wonder if my 7D needs some service work because the difference was so dramatic. My lenses are alive, alive!! Since I am getting into portraits and other possibly paid work, I'm debating trading in the 7D for another 5Diii (the 5Diii really is amazing in IQ, focusing, even the HDR is great though not perfect). I was also thinking of trading the 7D for a 5Dii, or maybe just send in the 7D for some a tune-up (it's only got about 15000 clicks on it). I lean slightly towards the 5Dii, because that will leave some funds for another lens (maybe 16-35 or tam 24-70). Any advice? Thanks!

Congrat...on 5D III purchase. Do yourself a fav. skip the Tammy, get the Canon 24-70 f2.8 II. You will not regret it...contrast is much better. So much sharper at f2.8. Not to mention Tammy has reversed zoom

If I'm you, I would sell all your current lenses and settle for two SHARPEST zooms:

1. 24-70 f2.8 II
2. 70-200 f2.8 IS II

My 2cents, you have too many f4 lenses.

+1...with most posters, I doudt 60D replacement will solve "noise" issue.

6D or 5D II will help alot.

Go for Nikon if you want to.  Life is just like that.  You have to accept the good with the bad.  Soon it'll be Canon's turn. 

+1......I wanted FF sensor in P&S body, Canon doesn't have one yet. Therefore, I went with RX1.

Just buy the tool fits your needs, NOT the brand.

two different focal range lenses and that's not comparable,

But i'ts about image IQ, it's to have an idea of what delivers
as image quality, to have an idea of what to expect comparing my 16-35 II

+1 to PWP, not good to compare these two lenses, very different uses and composition.
and I agree with Dylan regarding the image resolutions from both of these lenses.

I know these are two very different images but I hope they give you an idea how much sharper and more contrasty the new 24-70II compared to the 16-35II.  Both images were sharpened for screen when uploaded by Lightroom, in low setting.

It's a little difficult to see the difference on the monitor but I can definitely see the resolution difference when I printed both at 20x30.  My copy of 16-35II, at 28-35mm, the edges are noticeably soft even stopped down to f5.6-f9, but it's decent at the wider end where I need that lens to be useable.  I should add though that resolution is not the most important thing.  There are just those scenes that you can only get with a UWA lens that you can't reproduce with a 24mm.  So like Neuro said, there's a place for both these lenses in your kit.  You need both until Canon graces us with an even better UWA lens.

Me neither, I am slowly switching to Nikon because of the superior image quality. (I am shooting low-iso only)
But, with almost twenty canon lenses that is a big step for mankind, and some of the Canon lenses are better than the Nikon alternetives....

It'd be a shame if canon surprises us with a sensor better than sony/nikons. If you do plan on switching, let us know whats for sale.

Sensor(DR) is not the reason for switching. I'm perfectly fine with 5D III sensor. I simply want FF sensor in P&S body(like RX1) that can switch lenses.

My needs might not apply to the PROs, but hey...........why not

And why do you say that? Honest curiosity...

For me, photography is just a hobby, mainly, family photos. I have 2 kids(2yrs & 4yrs), the last thing I want to do is to carry 5D III + 27-70 f2.8 when go out. I want something small and easy to carry around. At the same time, I want FF quality photos. The RX1 fits well in my situation. I wish Sony comes out another version of RX1 with exchangable lenses.

Therefore, I wish not to put more $ into Canon pro gear. Again...this is just my ave Joe's everyday needs.

As an owner of 16-35 II and 24-70 f2.8 II, the IQ of 24-70 is OUT perform 16-35 II in almost every f-stops,  esp. at wide open - sharper and better contrast. PERIOD

+1 with PWP "you're not really comparing apples with apples"

Impressive. Fuji always had good color since fuji-chrome & Velvia days.

Too bad I'd probably get a g15 before a X100s. :|

My wife took my RX1. I might get x100s for travel.

LOL, it's rated higher than your 5D MK3
Pity it's no good for street photography or I might have jumped.
The x100s seems like a better alternative now that LR 4.4 has the sensor worked out.

I doubt it will out perform RX1 in higher ISO, regardless, how good the new sensor might be

If the x100s is good at 3200ISO under low light, I'll get one.

I too would like the option for two choices. I use my Olympus TG1 for watersports and bring it along whenever things are going to get bumpy. I reach for my 5D whenever 35mm won't do. But my x100s is with me about 75% of the time.

As an owner of 5D III, 50L, 16-35 f2.8 II, 24-70 f2.8 II and 70-200 f2.8 IS II - believe it or not, my go to camera now is Sony RX1. So small and it takes amazing photos

I really wish Sony or Fuji comes out FF sensor camera build in P&S body size(like RX1) that allow switching lenses. If they do, I'll sell all Canon oversized gear and settle for smaller gear. Just give me some pancake lenses: 14 or 16mm on wider, 35 or 50mm ave, and 135 or 200 for mid.
