IS is huge plus for this range, especially f2.8 lens

Impressive, historically relevant piece of kit. Why buy a Leica M9?
Read what Steve Huff (Mr Mirrorless) has to say http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/

Today I bought a mint 16-35 f/2.8II from a photographer clearing out his 5D2, lenses and 580EXII which he replaced with an RX1.
I had a play. Let me tell you, it's a very credible, superb camera.

It wouldn't work for my needs which require the versatility of a DSLR system, but still, in the right hands....

It took me 4 four trips to camera stores and played with it before I pull a trigger. As of today, I DO NOT believe there any mirrorless or P&S cameras be able to replay DSLR, in term of AF speed of course.

RX1 seems to be quite close with DSLR AF speed. IQ might even better than my 5D III - will see what this "little monster" can do ;)

I enjoy photography as a "hobby" too. I doubt I would be enjoy it if this my main job, unless base salary starts at $200K/year ;)

Friends of mines are Pro-wedding shooters, they spend 12-14hrs a day at studio to re-touch wedding pictures. Did I mention - there are no weekends for them :-[

Their family pictures are not even up to date :-\

+1 for GoPro... Put it on a headband, set it and forget it. After your Irish Yoga, scrape yourself up, put your pants back on and check out what happened the day before  ;)

LOL..... ;D

50mm of whatever brand is better than the other two Lenses in your case...not because the two are bad, but because they are too long to be your only lens. 40mm  is another option but it will be f2.8.

+1 on 40shorty OR 50mm on FF.

See my pics with 40shorty on 5D III: http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=7449.msg229009#msg229009

Even though I just bought RX1, I still keep an eye on X100s for these reasons:

1. new sensor (better in low light, 30ish % better, about 1stop better = x2 of light)
2. SUPER fast AF
3. and of course, the classic design

I have no problem spending another $1300 on top of RX1.

BIG VOTE for my BIG GUN!!!

1Dx... +5 and why?

because...

1. It's BIG, ideal for big hands.
2. It's for people who can carry heavy stuff, and not complain like a little girl about weight and size.
3. It's a photo weapon, and not a little toy
4. Better ISO.
5. Faster shutter speed 12-14 fps - MONSTER.
6. Louder shutter - I paid 6.200,00 Euro for freekin' camera who gives a sh.. if attracts a little attention (you are photographer, you should have "stronger armour" ...  "thick skin", if you can't handle pressure of few people complaining, and you care a lot about what they all have to say, than you shouldn't do photography... stop crying and start taking photos. (You don't buy a Ferrari, and than drive only in 1st gear, you shift your 6 or 7 gears, and enjoy in speed of light, with big sound coming from your engine, not your speakers).
1Dx = Ferrari
7. Better water sealing.
8. 400000 shutter cycles.
9. Better video quality.
etc...
I hope you get the point why 1Dx over anything else on this planet ...
No hard feelings people, but pay more - get more.

Can your 800horsepower "Ferrari" goes faster than other cars on this highway :-X

About "right tool for the right job" ;) Big gun is not for everyone

Bottom line....1DX is a SUPER TOY ;D

The only reason holding me back from buying 1DX is the size - It's a BIG GUN.
