definitely australian.

who gives a crap how someone says a word?

I don't mind an Australian accent placed upon English words, but he is mispronouncing a foreign cognate and as a speaker of Japanese, it irks me very much.  It was just distracting if anything.

I couldn't get over his pronunciation of Bokeh though...

I found his review a little lacking though.  Would have liked to see some low light shots or more color variation.

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II Pushed Back to October?

kinda happy about this news, cause I was worried that this lens wouldn't ship before I went to Hawaii.  Seeing that it slipped, means I made the right decision to pick up the 24-105L instead for the time being...

Still want this lens though...

seems D800 heard the similar rumor

It seems very fishy though... Nothing is listed on B&H's site about the deal.  And that videoguys site has some worrisome reviews.

Eric, has your item shipped/ been recieved?

Great shots....

though slightly disappointed as I was expecting the Osprey aircraft.

yeah what's up with the Digic 4 processors?  Maybe this camera was supposed to be released last year and got hung up in production like the 1dx?

Thanx Neuro, I have mulling over Extension tubes, Teleconverters and the 500D filter lately.  You summed up the options pretty well.

Technical Support / New camera and Lens calibration
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:19:33 AM »
I've seen some posts online saying that lenses under warranty get one free lens calibration or if your body is under warranty, they will calibrate all your lenses and body once.

Has anyone had experience with this?

Also my understanding was that AFMA was specifically for AF, and by doing a lens calibration there is the chance of your lens getting better IQ than when went in.

doesn't the 1dx also have better ISO performance?

Lenses / Re: If you can have ONLY 3 lenses, what would they...???

i'd go 16-35L, 24-70mk2, 200-400L (the one at the olympics with the 1.4x teleconverter)

If i had the money that 200-400 is exactly what I want... Sigh...

Lenses / Re: Another help me pick a lens yay...35L or 24-105L
« on: August 05, 2012, 12:01:59 AM »
If you are going to be moving up to FF in the next year or so, then I would get the 16-35L.  It's a great zoom range on a crop and will be your landscape lens when you move to FF.  The only thing i would do is just wait till the end of this month to see if the 14-24 get announced.

the 10-22 is a great lens.

But to get back to your question, I have both the 35L and the 50 1.4 on my 550D, and the 35L is pretty much my lens of choice.  One caveat is that when I go shooting landscapes, I always use my 10-22 instead.  The 35L is a great lens, but it feels meh on my 550D because like someone mentioned before, 56mm equival focal length is kinda limiting.

I actually just ordered a 24-105L myself, and have a suspicion that that will be my walk around lens with the 35L reserved for low light shots.

Lenses / Re: Center Pinch Lens Caps
« on: August 03, 2012, 11:28:56 PM »
I have one of these lens caps.  Like someone mentioned before, it's quite loose and doesn't seem all that well made.

Personally, i find the Tamron center-pinch caps of much higher quality and have them on all my lens.
