Lenses / Re: DXOMark Reviews Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4

Why are we giving credence to DXO? They always rank Canon as second rate, so why give them more ammo against our gear and our company!

One thing I have noticed is that Canon photographers earn significantly more. After all, when you pull out the white L lens, it screams top-end photographer.

Canon continues to amaze us! From their 75+ mpx dslr, to this 11mm wide FF lens, to medium format worthy IQ.

So proud of Canon! I think I saw nikon cameras in north korea vs iran warmup.

Canon General / Re: Let's confess our disgusting perversions

I like to sniff panti... oh wait

You mean photography related perversions. In that case, I regularly check Ken Rockwell's site.

The thing I wonder about your post and others like it is why do you care? I want a high MP body, I can pay for it, and I'm tired of people telling me I don't (why do people overquote?) "need" it. I want it, got it?
If you really "want" it, you get it. If you do not have it, either you don't want it, or cannot afford it. Since you do not yet have it and you say that you want it, then I have to deduce that you cannot afford it.

Nobody needs 36 mp! At most, we post at 1000x700. So, around 0.5 to 1 mp should be enough for most. Canon gives you plenty with up to 21 mp, should you choose those ridiculous sizes. As Ken Rockwell says, large files clog your harddrive and slow down your machines. I would rather have a nice looking image from a Canon than crappy 36 mp "photos" from nikon. Just how many Pulitzer prizes have D800 images won? Answer: none, nada, zero!

Notice how Canon allows F mount lenses in their bodies but Nikon never does it? Nikon users are snobs while they fling their exclusive bodies while taunting us that they can use their lenses on our cameras? This is a slap in the faces of us all.

Great job, guys. Canon gets the best technical minds. I hope it is 15-stop DR, 4K RAW video and 10 fps shooting for 5D3. Nikon fanboys will be committing suicide. What will be their excuse?

Canon General / Re: Off Brand: Nikon Announces the D4S

All this fuss about a camera that was made obsolete by 1DX 2 years ago. Nikon will be out of business soon so that all remaining people will be joining the Canon camp and taking pictures with our cameras. I am so proud of our engineers who have given us epic cameras and put these nikonians in their place. By the way, have you seen any pulitzer picture taken with the D4? Yeah, thought so.

A 5dII/5dIII/1DX/1-D C in the hands of a competent film maker can produce a lot more compelling footage than a digital arri or a RED scarlet in the hands of an unimaginative person whose only qualifications are 100 grand spent on film school.

Precisely. Give me an Oscar-winning movie shot on a 5D3 than a crappy Youtube video shot on Phantom 65.

Canon is in whole another level than Nikon. If your production has only few Gs or want temporary cameras to be blown up in action scenes, Canon's got your back. We know that Sony, Arri, etc are among the elites, but Canon is offering poor-man's devices to attempt to compete. For low budget, you have the C-series. How many 5Ds have been blown up in action movies compared to D90 or D800?

Nikon, on the other hand, is just not trying.

Photographers have a rather high opinion of themselves. They are probably the least earners in terms of industrial average and have rather substantial investments in their assets, but take offense when somebody gives credit to their gear.

If you are a painter, you could argue that it is your talent and skill that contribute most to the product you are developing. After all, having good quality canvas or paint alone is not going to translate into good painting. But a good quality lens and a good quality camera will give a good quality photo UNLESS the operator sucks. Of course, great photographers can get great results with great cameras, but the skill and talent necessary for great photos is not as great as photographers would like to believe. No offense, but we are in this rumor site where we talk nothing but gear -- so, gear does matter quite a bit in photography.

So, when somebody compliments your gear, just smile and reply back, "Thank you, without this expensive gear, my photo would look S___ty just like coming from your iphone." That is the truth.

(since Canon is that leader).

Kodak called and agreed with you.

That is an ugly camera. People will be flocking to Canon, so hold on to your hats folks. I will be putting my gear on craigslist to lure wary Nikon users.
