5dmk2 and d800 same exposure time, f-stop base iso
5dmk2 developed in camera raw and DPP and d800 in camera raw so that details/information can  be seen equally in the white  house wall and in the white  towel  in front of the garden house =high lights reproduction.
Then we look in the shadows, low levels , an area is selected in the low levels and auto contrast is laid, auto contrast are showing  levels , details, noise in the selected area , no personal influence , photoshop is calculating  the signal level from the pixels values. This is the  results of  2-3 extra stops DR  in low levels.  And how to use it- it is up to the photographer and  the skills to use photoshop...

how did this thread go from comparing the 5D3 & D600 to comparing the 5D2 & D800?  How about a Rebel xti versus a D4?

I got a dropped 17-85mm -- filter was broke & stuck on, front element cracked, and the focus wheel made and awful grinding noise -- fixed by canon for the minimum $100 charge.   I also got the malfunctioning IS system on a 17-55mm f2.8 replaced for $100.

Very pleased with the costs in those cases.

I might send in my 100-400mm for recalibration.  Been wondering what it would cost (their site says it must be inspected first).

If there is a new firmware for the 5D3, or a new version of DPP, there is absolutely no need to have a recall. Such software updates can be downloaded and installed easily by the user. I tend to think that this "delay" is due to something else than a new firmware or software.

Unless, of course,  they are finding there's no way to update firmware on the camera.

Probably the internal timer is off slightly so recording 29 mins 59 seconds actually resuts in 30 mins 0 seconds of video.

No offense guys - we all appreciate the site and all the rumors you bring us, but come on.  You can't blame this on screencast.  You guys should have stressed the amount of people going on this.  I know you guys have something like google analytics, and you saw how many people have been coming to your site in recent days.

Like I said before - we all appreciate what guys do, but don't take on something that you can't handle.  Every canonista across the world is now bummed out.  There is always tomorrow morning though.

If Spreecast said they could handle 10,000 (and not more) than they should have let 10,000 in on a first-come first-serve basis and given a polite message that the livecast was full to everyone else.    Bur instead they let it blow all their servers.

As Tijn pointed out I think the OP's analysis is wrong (as was mine because I had the LCD size wrong).   The mystery camera is zoomed into about 1/7th - 1/8th of the horizontal size.   If the screen is 720*480 and he is fully zoomed in then the dimensions would be (assuming 1/8th) -  5760 x 3840  or 22MP (!).

The screen could have a higher resolution than 720*480 and the tester may not be fully zoomed in.

Edit: OOPS!   Fixing my calcs again I get between 38MP - 50MP.
