As can be read in the discussion from the original topic, the 720x480 is for tricolor pixels. Each consisting of three subpixels. You have 920K subpixels, the 60D has 1.04 mil subpixels. (Which, coïncidentially, is 720x480x3 = 1036800)

Nice post he made there... I don't quite get it though. On my 60D, when I zoom all the way in on an image, the size of the crop indication is basically identical to that of the 5D-? photo as he recovered it. Obviously, the 60D is 18Mpx. And its screen is the 3-inch 720 x 480 LCD that he's using for his calculations.

See included great quality webcam image of my 60D lcd screen when fully zoomed in on an image, and compare... (The horizontal lines are just the curtain-type things I took a picture of to make this comparison)

Not sure where this clown came up with his 38MP number but I did a similar analysis of the lcd screen bird picture several weeks ago and came up with 100MP+ as I stated on another thread here:

I've ascertained from the picture of the LCD display of the bird that this prototype camera has at least 100MP!  This is based on the following assumptions:

1. the LCD has at least a pixel count of the 7D  (921,600 pixels) and has approximate dimensions of 1174 x 785 pixels (3:2)
2. the professional Canon photographer is not a pixel peeper (he's not viewing at over 1:1)

My calculations are based on the small box showing that approximately 1/7th- 1/8th of image's narrow edge is being displayed which would put the resolution at least 12327 x 8218 or 101,303,286 total pixels.

If it uses lossy compression, the result can not be better than the original file. Better quality than JPG - yes, but not better than the original RAW/DNG file.

Sure it can if it manages to lose a bunch of noise.

They had no other use for the 5mm of real estate they added to the filter ring.

In May, 1987, they launched the EOS 620, an upgraded version of the EOS 650.  So, if you're right and Canon marks the 25th anniversary of EOS with a 5DIII, will they stick to historical prececent and launch a 5DIV two months later?   

Yes, maybe we'll start seeing 5D upgrades as often as we see Firefox upgrades.

Canon has decided the Euro, USD and GBP have achieved parity. Dont expect to see massive sales of new primes

Just be glad they didn't decide the Yen has achieved parity with the others.

The focus ring is bigger than mk I hence no room for the description - at least where they usually put it.

Why would the second switch -- whatever it is -- be shorter than the focus switch?   It's not just perspective, the 2nd switch doesn't extend as close to the focus ring.

Hey Franz, is the position/orientation of the moon consistent with what one would see in Australia?

it´s photographed in utah anayway.

The landscape is allegedly from Utah but given its a double exposure and the moon doesn't orient with the scene the moon could have been taken anywhere.
