EOS Bodies / Re: A little humor - Canon vs Nikon video
« on: December 14, 2011, 05:05:50 PM »
This "Video" has nothing to do with humor. It´s filmed violence, nothing more. I would not allow such a piece of S___, if I were responsible for Canon rumors. What about creativity, what about ideas?

Ralf

Lighten up bro.

It's a nicely made video and it's pretty sick!

I'd like the 7D Mark II to have these features (totally catered to my own needs though):

Continuous AF in video
High frame rate (8FPS is already nice)
Dual Digic 5+
Weather sealing

Hmmm...  That's all I can really think of aside from dual SD/Compact Flash or XQD card slots.

I've got a little off brand one that is sorta like the gorilla pod, it hold way more weight than it says it does.

It holds my 60D + A shotgun mic + a lens.

I quite like my kit lens, it would be nicer if it was could be a bit wider.  But no complaints from me.

There are a few of us here. And it would help get rid of some of the Video based confusion.

There are rumour forums here such as...

EOS Movie
Rumors about EOS Hybrid Video DSLR's

But that doesn't really help those who already have a camera and want tips.

Plus with the whole Cinema EOS and 5D3 coming out soon it may be a good resource for those looking at starting and wanting to stay members of this forum. The Question then is where would it go?

Otherwise there is always Planet5D and other video centric forums you can try.

You could always rename the "Image galleries" group to "Images and Videos" and just stick a video subform in there.

Just something for speculation though.  I only asked because I didn't notice a sub form and thought it would be nice if I was given some guidance as to where I should post videos.

EOS Bodies / Re: Should i go for the 1DX or the 5D Mk III?
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:36:50 PM »
Assuming the 5D Mark III will be a high MP camera, it would be good for weddings, probably won't be the fastest camera, but it could be pushing 30MP+ images.

If you strictly shoot weddings I'd go with the 5D Mark III, but not enough is know about it yet to make that answer concrete.

A lot of the guys who film skating/boardsports around where I live use the Rode Shotgun mics, I have a 60D so I can't speak on the behalf of a 5D Mark II owner but I think it would work great with a 5D Mark II.  Just has the standard mic input the plugs into the left side (of my 60D at least).

To set ISO when I shoot video on my 60D I just use the button on the top by the screen and use the dial to change it.

I'm assuming on the T3i you'd have to access it in the "Q" menu.

I tried that on my 60D and unless I'm in Photo Mode, it does not work. Do you set it in film mode and than go to video mode and it uses whatever you manually set it at?

Thanks
Just grabbed my camera so I can check it out, here's what I did:
Turned it on, it was on "M"
Turned the dial to the video mode
Pushed the top panel ISO button
Gave me the options of 100 200 400 800 1600 3200 6400 and auto
I could select them with the dials

I couldn't change it from the "Q" menu.

I've looked through previous suggestions and I haven't seen any like this (my apologizes if I missed one).

Are there enough people that shoot video on their Canon DSLR's here to make a subforum for it?  Or at least send me in the right direction as to where I should post mine.  I mostly make sports edits (Snowboarding/skiing, Longboarding, wakeboarding, etc.).

Well, here's my list:

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 7D
Canon 1DX, just because I can
8-15mm f/4 Fisheye, because I need a fisheye really bad (Well, want.)
70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
24-70mm f/2.8L USM
14mm f/2.8L II USM
50mm f/1.2L USM
400mm f/2.8L IS USM
180mm f/3.5L Macro USM
Misc. accessories and such (maybe a boom mic and a steadicam)
Redrock Rig
Slider of some sort

And whatever is left over would go towards college.
