PowerShot / Re: Three New PowerShot Cameras Coming Shortly
« on: September 12, 2014, 07:21:57 AM »
I'm really looking forward to that G7X. Let's see how it competes with RX100III and LX100...  ::)
However, Canon's naming scheme is totally confused.

EOS Bodies / Re: How does the reveal of the final 7D2 specs make you feel?

Whether I'll be excited or not will depend on the performance of the sensor including its DualPixel abilities...

EOS Bodies / Re: Patent: Canon 5 Layer UV, IR, RGB Sensor

Nobody's brought it up so I'll mention it. Isn't the timing on this interesting in that Canon just released a new version of DPP that isn't backwards compatible? Maybe the new RAW formula is already in the software?
Good point. I thought about it, too... but, why should the 6D, 1Dx... already use the new RAW formula?

Ya... nice. Please, Canon: announce the f*ckin camera. :D
And announce the T6i featuring the same sensor too, please.

Site Information / Split up RSS feeds in "rumors" and "other stuff"
« on: June 10, 2014, 12:05:14 PM »

I'd like to suggest to split up the RSS feeds as suggested.
I don't care too much about offers,    anniversaries of Canon gear, reviews and many more rumors-unrelated stuff.

I don't say they should not be posted, as probably there are a lot of people out there who are happy to read about offers for SD Cards or a 6D+Lens bundle, but for me, personally, these are not the reasons I visit or what I'm interested in when I subscribe to the rss feed...

What do you guys think? Do you like the idea of splitting up at least the feeds in "rumors" and "other stuff" (everyone is encouraged to propose a better naming ;-))?

Is this a CR3?

I wonder if only stupid dickheads are working at Canon, but I guess this is not the case. ;-)
So what might be the disadvantage when using the "high-DR mode"?

EOS Bodies / Re: A New Rebel for CP+? [CR1]
« on: January 15, 2014, 04:39:58 AM »
I want a full frame rebel sl1.  ;)
I guess the T6i will have (exactly) the same sensor as the 70D. The 7D MkII will (maybe) get the new "masterpiece" as Canon did with the 7D.
This is why (in my opinion) the T6i will be announced prior to the 7D MkII and it implicates: lets wait for the 800D.  ;)

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D Mark II in 2014 [CR2]

I want APS-H sensors back!
Though I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the size of their projectors since 2006.
That's exactly it. I don't think the statements from 2006 still hold. At least, I hope...  ;)

EOS-M / Re: New Lens, New Firmware for EOS-M

I wonder if the improved AF speed will also come to the rebels featuring the "hybrid-AF-sensor"...

EOS Bodies / Re: Any news on the SL1 sensor?
« on: May 13, 2013, 03:12:23 PM »
However, DXO has tested the raw output of the T5i which has the same sensor as the SL1,
Wrong. As far as I read the news, the sensor of the SL1/100D is "new", the sensor of the T5i/700D is the one used already in the T4i/650D.

My first (D)SLR was the 400D, I chose Canon over Nikon, because I liked the colors out-of-cam better...

However, nowadays, I'd go for the D5200...

EOS Bodies / CR rating?
« on: March 19, 2013, 05:00:01 PM »
How come there is no CR rating at this one?
When I first saw the rumor I was pretty sure that it's fake. The images of the 700D where from the 650D and the spec list is a 1:1 copy of the 650D. Starting from the 300D, there was never a successor of a xxxD with a spec list so close to its predecessor than this 700D.

I don't believe it.  8)

However, if it turns out to be true, I'll keep my 400D for another two years.
(or sell all the stuff and run over to nikon ;-))

Update: the rubber grips are different from those on a 650D. It really seems to be the 700D. Damn.

Lenses / Re: Bridge not sharp - why?
« on: March 11, 2013, 04:21:52 AM »
A few things:
1/20th is waaaay too slow a shutter speed if you're shooting over 70mm...tripod or not. In cinema, even on a 50lb, $20,000 tripod, we never start action until a few seconds after rolling, as you need time for the camera to settle. [...]

125 ISO is way too low. Boost it and increase your shutter speed.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon EOS-1D C Available for Preorder from B&H Photo

What I do not get is why they are putting such a clearly "videographer"-spec'd system in a DSLR body and not in a movie camera body like Cxxx...  ???
