Pricewatch Deals / Re: EF 24-70 f/4L IS & EF 35 f/2 IS Preorders

WTF 1500 bucks?!?

How the hell can they pair this to the 6D and make sense of it?

i would rather save a little more for the 2.8 then, and since that will never happen, Thanks canon, for dissapointing me again...

i would have understood 800 or maybe even 900, less and less money is gonna go into lenses in the next cupple of years it seems. And Canon is whining "We cant even make a billion anymore" Pfff, no wonder... Shame on you Canon, Shame on you!

I get that a lens can be expensive to make and so on, but lots of other companys sell their items at a loss in the start just to have the price low and get more sold, then they start earning money when the process is larger and easier. But it seems that Canon wants a 500 dollar premium just to call it a L lens..

If they release a new 50, i want upgraded optics and a real USM system that doesnt break... we dont need IS, and we dont need anything fancy, not all of us are made out of money..

5D2
40mm f2.8 Pancake
80mm f1.8

Or if im feeling retro

Canon AV-1 with FD 50mm 1.8

I usualy use the 80mm since im still a bit shy when im in the streets taking photos. But if i need the wider angle of the 40mm its a prefect lens cause of its size. Its also easy to keep in a pocket/small bag :)

Both attachments are with the 40mm

EOS Bodies / Re: could the new EF-M mount support FF sensors too?
« on: July 23, 2012, 11:54:17 AM »
If you look at the position of the contact pins, the new M lens mount will not be able to support a FF sensor.

And if you consider that this is a brand new mount - and Canon did not make it FF compatible - it is very safe to say that Canon is not planning to put a FF sensor in the M series ... ever.

The M-series is obviously meant as a bridge camera between compacts and DSLRs.
If Canon ever makes a compact FF camera, it will surely user the EF mount.

Im guessing/hoping thats why we have the 40mm STM pancake already..

Sweet, then i wont be tempted to get a NEX anymore, aslong as the price is right.
Perfect as a carryaround, if i dont want to bring my 5d2 :)

As to who buys mirrorless cameras, its people that dont do too much research, but have money, and dont want a DSLR..
Ive been asked 5 times the last three months about people wanting a good camera that is NOT huge, and NOT too complicated. If this is not overpriced, i will start suggesting this instead of the NEX, GF3.

Cant wait to see results of this pocketrocket on the badboy 85 1.2  8)

Another one, this lens has made it into my top 2 used lenses with the Canon 85mm f1.8

I would rather have a 135 non-L lens :) even tho the L version is cheapish compared to some.

Il take a cheaper/newer 135mm f2.8 anyday!

Ive only had the lens for an hour now, but im already loving the 40mm... its a little wider than the 50, so perfect for my use.. And surprisingly sharp wide open, and totaly silent focus.

Yeah i just got confirmation from my local store that MSRP for the Netherlands is 279 euro. Thats insane!

Even with shipping and tax and import i can still get one from the US for 228 euro! Who smoked something at Canon EU?!
