First time I've takena camera to the footy so kept everything in AV @ 10,000 ISO - SOOC, RAW processing in Capture one (only edits might be crop, though most uncropped)

Why can't people use Live View? 1Dx has the best AF system in the game, do people really want to compromise that over not wanting to use LV?

Perhaps b/c some of us dont use AF that much?

90+% of my shots are handheld/walk around with zeiss lenses - live view isnt that useful unless I was to get a zacuto or something similar. The camera is big enough as it is for street/casual photography without having to add one of those on

Stepping back form the canon v nikon debate,

What are people's thoughts on the fuji xpro1 x-trans CMOS sensor? From what I've read it does an outstanding job and I would think potentially licensing such a sensor on a FF might provide canon with something very competitive?

Any one want to try commenting on the DR, high iso capabilities etc of a potential FF x-trans CMOS sensor?

it says greater than 300mm are not allowed
so i read that as 300mm are allowed
a 300 f4L is basically the same size as the 70-200 a little longer
a tele on that would have decent reach

or the siggy 120-300 f2.8 grenade launcher

Interesting that etihad says 300mm is allowed.

I based my earlier statement from here - http://www.afl.com.au/fixture/aflvenues/conditionsofentry/tabid/13642/default.aspx - lists 200mm as the limit. Would be interesting to see the actual limit

Sigma 120-300 + 2X TC would be interesting. Though might be a bit heavy with no monopod!

So work out what the white balance should be and set it manually next time. You should be able to do this for each ground without any trouble as they don't change the type of lights that are used.

Also, take along a 300 or preferably 400mm zoom to really get in close with the players.

200mm is just not enough.

There is a 200mm focal length limit to AFL matches - though you could easily get around that if you add in a TC or body with crop factor etc

Provided IQ is close to excellent, for an amateur phtographer with wild-life ambitions what would be the alternative to spending more than 2k for a (highly speculative) mark II version of the Canon 100-400? Sigma 120-300 f/2,8 is too short in reach and @ f/5,6 not superior to the current Canon 100-400. The other serious alternatives are way too expensive. Unfortunately 

As someone who has been looking to get into this area and that has been eyeing off the sigma120-300/2.8 OS vs 100-400, I'm curious as to your comparison?

Outside of weight the sigma has looked better to me given the potential extra reach (420mm with 1.4X or 600mm with 2X TC)

Are you saying that sigma @ 300mm + 1.4 TC (effective 420mm, F4) is optically worse than the 100-400 @ 400mm? Even when the sigma is stopped to F5.6 equivalent?

Or is the comparison based on the sigma with a 2X TC? In which case 600mm = substantial reach advantage over 400mm...

Would you happen to know whether these prices are nett (inclusive of taxes etc.?).

Malaysia is significantly cheaper than Sinapore. I am still waiting for HK to update!

google seems to indicate no GST?VAT but differing sales taxes depending on goods. To me, that would indicate that the RRP would include any taxes. Though not being malaysian, I wouldn't know

I think after what JB Hifi did, they're going to bow a little to pressures.

What did JB Hifi do?

they started selling grey imports of nikon/canon cameras. Eventually nikon agreed to match grey pricing for australian retailers + change warranty to 2 yrs so that consumers would support local retailers.
