Lenses / Re: What 3 lenses do you dream of and long to own?

400 2.8L IS II
70-200 2.8L IS II

Not invented yet - some great wide prime, 16-18mm.

I'm using FD 50 1.4 S.S.C. with my 60D and it's very good in terms of sharpness even wide open.

I've got FD 50 1.4 with replaced mount to EOS and I'm happy with it.
Cost <15$  - there is one guy here in Bulgaria that changes the mount and looks like this on the pics and it cost 10 times less.
The only downside is lack of AF confirmation(no chip), but I think he can handle this too ;)

Just new APS-H sensor ;)

New sensor and old features from 7d means that we can have it for 2000$

Well,
200 2.8 is a great lens, but using a flash (if it's not wireless of the camera) is just ruining the stage lighting.

Nice Samyang!
I was dreaming about Canon EF-S 12 2.8, but if Samyang 10 2.8 is optically good and reasonably priced I'll go for it.

5.8 and 5.9 on the long end?
No, thanks!

Canon - where is your compact camera with bright lens???
28-200 2.4-3.5L with 2/3" 8 years ago and you can't do it better now? It's profitable to sold DSLR and lenses to prosumers...

I have 60D and 15-85IS, it's good lense with great range.
I got it year and a half ago for about 600$ brand new separated from a kit. Mine is still in like new condition, it's good build. I would try to drop this price to 600$.

DON'T even think about old 17-85IS, it's not better even than a kit 18-55IS.

I would bought old version second hand good condition. Pricing of new canon lenses is awful, I can't spend something like 2500$ for new, especially if I can find good old one for half price. I'm just not sure that I'll got the money before the anouncement.

If it's OK with EF and EF-S adapter will be very nice and interesting...

Well... I like the idea for APS-H in body without grip, I don't like big and heavy 1D series.
But I think it will be limited or pricey, in other case who would buy 1D X if there is 7D II with the same AF system and good APS-H sensor for 2k $.

Howabout a 24mps APS-H, 10fps 5DIII sized camera for $4k?

The 70D would be the $2k variant

4k $ - No, Thanks I'm amateur and this is pricey for me.
If I liked 1D series I would rather buy some second hand 1d for less.

And if 70D is 2k $ I would stay with my 60D for a while.

But I expect I would use it 99% at 400 so why not the prime

Have you shot with one enough to know if your expectation is valid?  It's likely close, at least.  For me, about 15% of shos with the lens are at 150mm and shorter.  So, why don't I have the prime?  IS and physical length.  At 400mm on APS-C (I almost always use my 100-400 with my 7D, since if you're focal length-limited, APS-C is a better choice), you need approximately 1/640 s for a decent handheld keeper rate.  Over 50% of my shots with the lens are slower than 1/640 s (mostly 1/250-1/500 s), so I'm getting a lot of benefit from the IS.  Also, the 100-400mm gets you to 400mm with a lens that's nearly 3" shorter (when retracted) than the 400mm f/5.6L prime - that means the zoom fits in my Lowepro Toploader 75 AW whereas the 400/5.6 prime would not, similarly for many other bags.

Right on target, same things for me here - zoom is more usable and shorter wich is important too. And 100-400L is not so expensive second hand now, I'll problably go for it for Christmas(if I have the money).
