Some beutifull pics there guys, but have to say I have had very poor results with this lens and a fiend of mine has 2 of them and he only has kept them for backup for his 24-105. I know that its hit and miss sometimes with lens copies, but I found the autofocus in them to be so unreliable and when I use it on my 5D mark2, it isn't a winning combination for Modern Wedding Photography. I now use the 24-105 which isn't brilliant but its much better. The reason why im giving my 2cents about this is that I think Canon should have replaced this lens a long time ago, such lens's like the efs17-85 and the 15-85 which would be comparable are much better performers in my opinion. I just think Canon should address this because if they brought out a 28-135 mk2 I would most definatelly buy it. What do you guys think?

I know its to late for this now, but I think if Canon knew they where going to take this long with a substantial replacement for the 1ds3 they should have released a "N" version around Q4 09 with the 5d2 sensor (for better ISO ) and the video and the high def lcd and reduced the price a little and it would have kept there flagship a lot fresher looking. I also think Canon should do a mild update with pro bodies half way through there cycle, if its going to be 4 years.

Five new dSLRs in 2012, including a refresh of every one of the single-digit bodies?  I think that would be a record, and coming on the heels of the current production woes, I'd be really surprised if they attempt that.  I bet we'll see a T4i in early 2012, a 1Ds IV in late 2012, and everything else pushed to 2013.

  This all seems rather depressing really!

The few things I would like improved for the next 5D installment are pretty much the same as everyone else.

1. 7d Autofucus or better
2. Better ISO  (D3s or better)
3. Pop up flash for wireless flash control and also for the occasional time when you don't want to carry a flashgun  e.g Family holidays etc
4. 60p video
5. Don't really want more resolution, but if they introduced pixel binning that was a benefit to the ISO, that would be cool.
6. Also want Canon to use same grip as the Mark 2 or at least allow it to still fit.
7. Would like a Crop funtion 1.3 & 1.6 for creative in camera croping. Also a funtion that allowed you to crop a photo in the camera after it has been taken. But I wouldnt be anoyed if they didn't do this as its not a big deal.

I know this is a bit of a repeat of what has been said but felt I had to add my list, just in case Canon is watching as this topic is getting a big response. I hope they are as there has been some great ideas and suggestions on this topic.

I think if Canon did put an aps-h sensor in the next 7D, it would be important for them to retain the efs compatability, otherwise I think it probably wouldnt be worth it.

I was thinking if Canon did make the 1D MKV Full Frame, making the 7D MKll APS-h might be a good move. They could keep it EFS compatable with an in camera crop function and also put it ahead of its direct competition the D300s or D400, with having the bigger sensor advantage. What do you guys think?

If Canon brought out a 1D MK5, made it Full Frame with 21mp and with iso that bettered the D3s at the same price level it would turn the table back in their favour. Then worry about a 1Ds replacement down the line, maybe with 40mp+? for those that want it.

All Canon really need to do to keep Wedding Photographers happy, would be to add a 1D autofocus and at least match the D3s iso. 21mp is actually still to much for most Photographers needs, but no doubt they will increase it anyway unfortunately      I wouldn't mind if they increased it to 32mp if there was an alternative Full Frame low light specialist camera to choose from in there range, But there Isn't

How about a few updates to the low to mid rage EF lineup?  What about an update to the 28-135 or  28-200??    If you own a 5D the only decent up to date standard zoom is the 24-105 or 24-70, both of which are expensive. All the rest of the EF more affordable options are 1990's releases.  What about a 24-135 f2.8-4.5 IS priced at approx £500?

It probably means absolutely nothing, but I just noticed that the advert for Focus on Imaging in Birmingham NEC which runs from the 6-9th March has a picture of a Monkey holding a 5D mk2 with a 50mm 1.4 lens on it. The mk2 bit on the camera cant be seen, which makes me wonder why they would use a camera more than 2 years old in there advert for the show unless its a hint of what might be unveiled b4 or at the show??

Whatever Camera Canon release, it needs to be something that can compete with the Nikon D3s iso and autofocus ability, as Canon does not have a FF camera that offers what the D3s offers right now.

The D3s competitor is the 1D Mark IV.  Comparable high ISO, better auto focus, slightly faster, higher resolution, and significantly better video.

1D Mark IV isn't Full Frame the last time I checked, which for me is a total deal breaker.
