EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5d3 not soft anymore?
« on: April 28, 2012, 05:20:23 PM »
Where did all the people go that thought the 5d3 was soft? Did the problem go away? Or did the people who thought so?

Because I still think the 5d3 shots are softer than the 5d2, to the point like it feels like I should have glasses on to make them properly sharp..

They have detail and the images (other than sharpness) is just wonderful. But it feels like all my lenses have been downgraded.

And NO it's not a microadjustment issue or "the new complex af system". It's the sensor I guess...

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5d3 wake-up time.
« on: April 18, 2012, 03:17:53 PM »
Hi guys!

Just wanted to ask why no one is commenting on the very slow wake up time on the 5d3. When the Power-button is in the ON position and the camera is sleeping, it takes twice as long for it to wake up as the 5d2...

Is it just mine?

Third Party Manufacturers / Which external mic for Canon DSLR?
« on: April 16, 2012, 04:15:17 PM »
Hi guys!

I have the Rode Stereo Videomic and I have tried it with 5d2, 1d4 and the 5d3, and I get a huge amount of background noise so I use the the internal for better soundquality.

Which do you use and do you have to clean seriously up in post (which I don't want to) or does give you clean audio?

Thanks!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 1d x AF
« on: March 04, 2012, 02:47:11 PM »
Hi guys!

This is for you that have been trying the 1d X.

How come after 45 minutes with it and a Canon person we couldn't get the camera to light up the chosen AF point, and be able to track a subject with that point? Did any of you people get that to work?

No matter what zone or signle point AF I chose, the focusing points jumped around wildly and were impossible to control, it also seemed like the expansion points are no VISIBLE, please tell me this can be turned off....

I want to be able to see the single point I track something with all the time, and ONLY that point... We struggled also very hard to achieve this on the 5d3 also. Which, btw, looks fairly awesome....

Lenses / TS-E 17mm f4 L TRIPOD-RING
« on: February 18, 2012, 06:13:11 AM »
Hi guys!

I saw a dude somewhere sometime who had a tripod-ring to fit around the TS-E 17mm tilt-dhift lens, but now I can't find it anywhere, and I can't seem to find a Canon-ring which is large enough.

Anyone used something they feel worked?

EOS Bodies / What's wrong with the microadjustment?!
« on: February 09, 2012, 03:20:52 PM »
Hi guys!

I just bought another 5d2 waiting for the 1d X.

Now the 5d I have from before I microadjusted my lenses in 20 minutes and they simply work.

But for the second one I get CONSISTENT results that are WAY different if I focus from infinity down or from MFD and up.

Goes for all lenses. If I go from mfd and up it backfocuses, and if I go from infinity down, it frontfocuses. So if I adjust to make one of the accurate, the other is completely off...

Anyone know about this and how to fix it?

EOS Bodies / Custom WB
« on: February 05, 2012, 12:03:51 PM »
Hi guys!

I have mentioned this before, but today I discovered a videocamera I just got (old model of cheap Sanyo)at work (leftovers) can do exactly what I suggested for the SLR's.

I can use ONE button, aim at a neutral gray area and push ONCE and it has sampled WB, and I can press REC straight away and start to film with the sampled (and correct) WB.

Why isn't this available in an SLR? I am asking because the 1d X has a dedicated WB-button on top now, and the 1d X uses AE sensor to give info to the AF system, and it can track a color.

Here's the question (finally!):

Do you guys think that the 1d X WB-button can actually be used for "One-button" sampling of WB?

And if not not, why the heck not?  ;)

EOS Bodies / D4 AF vs 1d X AF
« on: January 05, 2012, 04:59:28 AM »
Hi guys! just have a question:

How is it that the Nikon's have only 9 "normal" crosstype, and the Canon has 45 and 5 dual crosstype, and yet they seem to have VERY similar performance, AF-wise.

The tests done with the D3s and the 1d mkIV they said they were pretty much equal, shouldn't the Canon be WAY better with that much more Cross-type sensors?

And now both the D4 and the 1d X are rated down to -2 EV.

EOS Bodies / Ai Servo in low light
« on: January 14, 2011, 03:58:24 AM »
Hi guys!

I'm think I will end up in straight-jacket soon. I've been trying to get lowlight images to focus properly, but it doesn't. I'm talking about normal indoor light , not anything crazy dark. If it's pitch black One Shot will work, but I'm dependent on Ai Servo. But still or not still subjects, it's just random if anything is in focus.

I use a 1d mkIV and 24 L II, 50 f1,2 L and the 50 is better, but not exactly perfect, my 85 1,2 II is to slow to miss or just to slow to hit.

Every lens is calibrated and they have been microadjusted to hit properly, and they all do, in good light.

QUESTION: Has anyone heard of any low light problems with the mkIV, I haven't... Or if anyone knows and have tried any settings that would work better.?

I feel I have tried every combinations of settings possible, but maybe not?

I mean what's the point in having super clean 3200 iso and an f1,4 or 1,2 lens when it doesn't focus in light lower than that I could use a 2,8??

Thanks!
