Lighting / Round light flash diffuser experience?
« on: December 26, 2014, 12:25:53 AM »
What has been your experience using one of the round light flash diffusers for portraits?

Anyone using the Chinese made ones from ebay directly?

If you use one, could you post a portrait? Thx

My experience has been mixed, too

Last week I posted my unused Epson R3000 for sale at a price below sold prices, $300, on ebay and received a single inquiry, and he wanted to give me $200, since I was firm on my price, he passed. I guess I should have posted a price of $400 and negotiated down from that.

When I buy, I've used a global CL search. It was helpful to find a cache of Vericolor 120 in NJ

EOS Bodies / Re: Thinking about upgrading to a 6D from a 60D. Thoughts?
« on: December 11, 2014, 03:01:01 PM »
I have the 60D and 6D, and actively use them both.

I purchased the 60D for macro and because of its flippy screen. Don't know why the screen isn't on all bodies, to me, it is very useful.

From the beginning, I only purchased EF lenses because I knew there would be a FF in my future. I had the 60D for a few years before getting the 6D.

I didn't consider selling the 60D because I wanted a back-up, plus, I wanted the crop factor to help extend the range.

I believe the new new price of the 6D is $1499.

For vendors, I recommend B&H and Crutchfield, two that I've used.

Lenses / Re: EF 400mm f/5.6L USM vs Tamron 150-600?
« on: December 11, 2014, 12:18:01 PM »
Today, I use my 70-200 with the 2x converter on the 60D for max range, no IS, handheld. The attached pic is an example of this combo. 1/2500 sec;   f/5.6;   ISO 1000

I'm pretty sure I had AF using the converter.

Lenses / EF 400mm f/5.6L USM vs Tamron 150-600?
« on: December 11, 2014, 01:15:11 AM »
I've started kicking the tires for a super telephoto - EF 400mm f/5.6L USM vs Tamron 150-600?

The reviews on Amazon for both are great. With either, I'd try a 2x III converter, which I already have.

I would be using it for sports, birds and wildlife at National Parks/wildlife refuges and zoos.

I will be using it with 60D/6D, which I have today, and maybe/probably later, the 7DII

Feedback?

Thx
