« on: Today at 12:58:27 AM »I am going to guess it is optically identical to the non-cinema lens... and since it is a 14mm.. the DoF is huge.. why charge soooo much more over the regular? the micro precision is really.. not that useful here.. and durability.. you can get two regulars... da´hell canon?

« on: May 22, 2013, 12:04:03 PM »I've been persevering, and I have to say that romance is blossoming. It does take some work and creative to make this lens work for you, but when you realise what it's for (and not for). Then the results start coming. Knowing how to tweak the images in PP helps too.
The lens is rather good and deserving of its L title.

My eyes tell me she's shopped into the photo. Yeah, my glasses are clean.
Well give them another wipe. It's one image. That's what flash in daylight looks like. Especially when you mess with both the exposure and flash compensation.
Yes, I shoot the same style of photos. It's her feet that look layered. But if it's one image and you shot it, then it is.

I was at the American Girl store and a pretty nice looking mom had a 5D mkii/iii (I couldn't tell and I was busier looking at her other features), and I believe a 24-70. I'm going to guess it was a $5000 set up to take a picture of her kid with next to a silly cardboard cutout... but who knows, maybe she was using her pro gear on a personal errand... but I think she was a rich woman who had more money than talent... though she did have some nice talents...
My wife goes to soccer matches, and to the watch crit racing with a 5DIII and 70-200 f/2.8IS II and 24-70 F/2.8 II. It just so happens that she also runs a studio ....
Who says all soccer mums don't know one end of a camera from the other!
I don't think he was interested in the camera's end.

True, but I was alluding to the fact that a camera of this market needs to have a swivel screen if the competition offers. It's the same with a Sony "amp", it better have 1100 or moar watts.

Your photos look fine. A 5 series won't improve things too much.

A 7d and a 300/4 for even less is an option, kinda. I'm not a wildlife shooter, but if you're birding do you really need to zoom back to 200mm on a $11799 lens? It seems most wildlife shooters I see are toting a 600/4 and TCs combination. I've used my 200/2 on the odd bird if I'm out shooting kid pics, and I can tell you 200 is too short for any bird in the wild, works well for tame deer, but useless for timid tiny birds.
