EOS Bodies / Re: Another Spec List for the Entry Level Full Frame EOS
« on: July 26, 2012, 02:00:46 PM »
I just want a 5D Mark II with better screen (3:2, 1040k) and better AF, Digit 5 and a new sensor. The larger eyecup would also be a bonus. I'm wearing glasses.

5D3 perhaps?

Suggesting 35L for every full frame shooter who can afford it.

I got rid of 17-40, 24-105 and almost got rid of 50 1.4 after acquiring a 35L. It's currently my only wide angle. It's that good.

After shooting with L primes, those f4 zooms will never be enough. To get good sharpness you have to stop down at least 1 stop, and f5.6 is not acceptable in low light.

The next target is 24L II, damn the L lust!

+1 on the 35 and 24Lii.  I just had a 24*36 print made from the 24L shot wide open and it's just amazing.

Wow, that's too bad that Canon would ignore a huge customer base who want the different colors.

Im guessing $2999 street

.
You clearly haven't internalized the new Canon pricing strategy.

This new lens will be over $3K USD, perhaps well over it. Resale value on the old model will remain steady, or increase.

I should buy a few of the old 100-400s now, and then resell in 2015 when the new 100-400 surfaces?

Sounds like new math to me.

4 × 5 = 12, 4 × 6 = 13, and 4 × 7 =14.

Bonus points if you know who said that.

This is the main reason why my wife is letting pick up the 5dmk3.  To be able to take great pictures of our kids (when they finally come).  Now is just practicing so i can take a great shot like this for when the day comes :D

Twins on the way?

Wow the G1X is bigger and heavier than the eos-m, didn't realize G1X was as big as it was! Given it has extra focal length but wow well over a pound in weight! G series got beefy since I owned G9! Eos-m is still winning for me I like the idea of a 22mm f2 lens for walk around!

And this, gentle readers, is why the mirrorless design is going to take over the top end of the PowerShot line. It already beats the G1X in every spec and costs the same price.

And every Rebel from here on out will be EF-M as well, of course. It's a no-brainer, really. What, you think Canon will introduce a new entry-level removable-lens camera that can't take the same lenses as their latest-and-greatest entry-level removable-lens camera?

Goodbye PowerShot G, goodbye Rebel, hello mirrorless.

(The XD won't see mirrorless for a loooooooooooooooooong time, of course....)

Interesting, maybe rebels will be ef-m mount.  Maybe the beginning of the end for ef-s has arrived?

Hard to see the camera in that video.  The producers did not notice the reflection on the camera's screen?

Point and shot cameras are near the end, smart phones will kill them off.

EOS Bodies / Re: could the new EF-M mount support FF sensors too?
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:59:50 AM »
it´s a 35mm f2 on the leica and a 35mm f1.4 on the 5d mk2.
no longish zoom. :)

a 35mm f2 would make things look a bit better for the 5D MK2 sure.. but not much.
walk a day with a leica and a day with a 5D MK2 through a city.   ;)

The 35/2 is much smaller than the 35/1.4

It's interesting how many photos this toy can do on one battery. Assuming it's pocket size, the battery won't be big. It will run in live view mode for all the time and if you put bigger EF lens onto it, the same battery has to run AF and sometimes IS as well.

Yes, with the battery and SD card the camera's weight increases by 36 grams.

If the price is right with the 22mm, this would be a great camera for family events where a DSLR is too bulky, e.g., day trip to the beach, family events, ect.

I forgot to mention. What if this camera is jpg only?!

Then I'll entertain the shorty fourty and my 5D3, or wait for a RAW version EOS-M, or both, probably both.
