I'm curious if this camera will accept the use of a 600rt speedlight, and if the new transmitter will be somehow supported.

Why would canon reuse an old part number?

My exact though when I saw the home page here. It looks like a nice camera; Canon must keep the price in check, the current G series camera's price is too high for what it is. If this new camera with a basic prime is reasonably priced, I'll pick one up as an EDC.

There's nothing magical about it........

........If you want great images from f/1.2 to f/2.8, the 50L is the only lens that will do it.

This is the photo.  The above was a cropped screen shot off my iMac.

Works for me.  This was at f1.2 5D3.  It's a screen shot so sharpness is not the best.  I focus and recomposed just a little.  The actual focus was on the boy's eye.

My advice would be that you don't really need the L lenses. If you want to dabble in primes you could try out a 50mm 1.4 for less than $400, and if you find that you really need the extra IQ/build quality of the 1.2L, you could upgrade. Same goes for the 35mm - try out the f/2 version and if you like the focal length, upgrade to the 1.4L if you feel you must.

After owing the 50, both the 1.8 mark1 and the 1.4, I'd never want them after using the 50L.  The 35L is an absolute winner too.  After you've used the L versions, the non-L stuff is hard to love.  The OP has some nice L zooms lenses, suggesting non L primes seems strange.   I've never used the 135L.

To the OP, for your budget you could also afford the ef 24mm L Mrk2, Another winner.

Compatible with full frame STM lenses

Are not all Canon DSLRs compatible with full frame STM lenses?

I'd rather pay $2k for a mk2 version of the 1.2L that doesn't focus shift and isn't soft wide open, than $850 for a mk2 1.4

What are you comparing the 1.2L to in order to call it soft at f1.2?  There is a post above this that mentions the focus shift.

I can't wait for such a camera…
Why? Because my wife started using my 5dmk3, she fell in love with it and no longer loves her 60D….and i can't afford to buy another 5D :) So…this would fit her just nice! And my wallet too..hehe

Giver her your 5d3 and you can use her 60d, problem solved.

It's hard for me to figure out what others mean too when it's just reading words vs. hearing them speak  8)

EOS Bodies / Re: New Upgraders (to FF) - what is your experience

> Flash - I love using the built in flash for fill.  It sometimes just needed. Again when travelling and the light just demands you filling in those faces.  SO, new upgraders, do you sometimes get frustrated that the mark II doesn't have a built in flash?

I came from a 50D.  With my 5d3 and dual 600s flashes and transmitter, on-camera flash is a like a Bic lighter.  If you care enough to use a DSLR and spend the money for it, then the loss of convince of the on-camera flash is not a concern.
