EOS Bodies / Re: Removing Low-Pass / AA from 5DMIII

You will get much better and more realistic training, plus you will get to know important people in the field.

Much quicker if you buy a few 1 series and a few 2.8 L zooms.  Business is about image.

Very strange... and informative.

No kidding. I had it all wrong...

Where do Babies Come From?........ daddy will stick his pee-pee in mommy's mouth or in mommy's poo-poo hole.

How did he ever manage to have kids with that method?

The guy on the Dos Eqius commercials doesn't hire photographers often, but when he does he prefers Ken Rockwell.

The guy on the Dos Equis commercials isn't Ken Rockwell's mentor; he is Ken's protege.

I'm sure you could have generated that pretty easily =P

Thank you!

If the new Canon 24-70 MkII is as sharp as MTF chart suggests, then Canon has done many photogs a big favor by enabling a 2-lens system for most everything, i.e. 24-70 MkII and 70-200 MkII, that rival or exceed primes.

I do love my 35L, 85L II, and 135L, but I must confess that 70-200 MkII is at least as good, maybe even better for contrast and color.

Even at f2, or f1.4, even f1.2?

If you want it, get it, otherwise you'll never be over it, unless you really can't afford it.

What I cant wrap my head around is why is Adorama doing such a better job than BH Photo?  From what I gathered they got all their "preorders" done and going on a week by week basis give or take...  Is it just BH gets more volume of customer orders or are they getting less inventory than adorama or less inventory in relation to adorama?  It is something to think about for sure.

Also, being close for the last 10(?)days can not be helping.

EOS Bodies / Re: My totally scientific announcement date prediction.
« on: April 12, 2012, 05:34:44 PM »
Just for fun, I went back through the camera listings on DPReview and based on past new body announcement dates, here's what I predict for the next announcements:

650D 5/6/2012
70D   2/24/2012
5D3   10/14/2011
1D5   10/26/2011
1Ds4 1/31/2010  (obviously way overdue)

I have no guess on a 7D2 because it's the only model in that line.

My methodology: I took the average number of days between announcements for a given line and added that number to the last announcement date.

For what it's worth, there have been zero announcements in months 4, 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12.  Other months as follows:

January, 2
February, 6
March, 1
August, 9
September, 5
October, 1

So August is usually the month to watch, probably between the 19th & 26th, then September sometime.

I didn't include the 1xxx line, or the D30 and D60.

Not that I really care, I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon.  I love my 60D.

Your scientific announcement date prediction needs moar work.

I couldn't take photos inside a Photo store.

That's 100% fine.  I don't want you to come to my store and take photos.  You can snap a pic of a product if you like, but taking broad store photos is a no.  For me it's 100% security related, I don't want anyone to have detailed photos of what is where in my place so they can plan a return visit when I'm closed.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Recall?
« on: April 12, 2012, 04:33:26 PM »
IS sound issue with the 200 & 800mm perhaps.

Maybe, but 800/5.6 and 200/2 owners are few so I doubt a camera wide re-call.

No matter how few owners there are, if that problem exists and it's a mechanical problem that needs to be fixed in the camera, they have to recall everything out there right?  It doesn't make sense to me if they just recall from those who have the lenses in question.  So you'd prefer to send in yours later when you plan to get 200 f/2 IS ?   :o

No, I have the 200/2 now.  Your point is valid though, they'd have to fix them all, not just a few.   There is no way for Canon to contact each owner, they don't know who we are, in more ways than one.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw the 5D3's light leak at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Why can't I applaud you for a Ferris Bueller reference?

Yes, it did not do what I wanted either.  Maybe a bump in the thread will attract other users' input.
