Oh the vexing annoyance of GAS,..I feel it quite often! Nice images though! Please post some more….I’m sure we would all like to see what it can do….and more images of the lens itself too!

Kick it in the ass!!

Take your time, relax and try to enjoy the shoot.

Put the 24-70 and 70-200 on each camera and relax.  Don't forget to set each camera to Silent Shutter mode.

Share some pics with us later and tell us your war story!!

But in general, I see no reason to go OCD nuts on how you clean lenses.  They don't get THAT dirty anyway and I use mine is all kinds of environments.  The worst issues are usually finger smudges with dirty fingers that contain oils.
+1, some people go way overboard on this stuff.

Thanks, I probably needed to hear just that!....
Thanks everyone!

Canon General / Lens Cleaning Techniques/Opinions
« on: August 22, 2014, 12:12:34 PM »
Hi everyone….I apologize in advance as I think this has been discussed before.  Just wondering what everyone’s opinion is regarding how and what they use to clean their lenses.  Any drawbacks/concerns when using various types of lens cloths, Lenspen, ZEISS pre-moistened lens cloths, one’s own shirt leave?  Thanks!

I hope the 7D successor comes without any video-recording capabilities whatsoever. A lean and mean STILLS machine.
+1,..I agree.  I know a lot of users are wanting some video improvements/specs,…but I would like to see improved IQ for stills.  Over the past 7-8 years I haven’t used video at all,…that’s just me.   I had a 7D and sold it.  It was a light hungry body and noisy as the ISOs were pushed.  I loved everything else about it though.  I’m very interested what come out!

Get the feeling it's not easy to make money with photography these days. Those who shoot as their main job seem to drive Yugos from what I see personally and those who shoot AND sell products and build up a giant web presence and following seem to live in nice homes in La Jolla, CA or the fancy part of CT  ;D.
It's definitely tough out there for all but the very top photographers, at least in terms of making six figures, plus.  I am in awe of people who do nothing but product reviews and seem to live quite well in terms of farms, horses, and trips to tropical islands, not to mention any names...but I guess a percent or two of big white purchases adds up :)

The reality is that stock is all but dead and that was a huge source of income in the past.  It's been supplanted by workshops, books, videos, and affiliate links.

They say that if you want to make money from photography, you need to teach photography, not do photography.  Scott Kelby has done rather well with this model.

I agree…some of these people do very well financially.  I am always amazed at some of the places that people, such as Trey Ratcliff, have been to,…sometimes multiple times…places I will never get to…

Though I thought in the past that 14-24 could serve me well, I am happy with my 16-35 f/4 IS. For me 16mm is wide enough and with fit for  my 77m CPL and ND filters
+1! Just ordered one to replace my 17-40L...cant wait!

I started with film also…developed my own film in college and for a few years after.  Always wanted to convert the downstairs bathroom into a darkroom, but never happened.  I miss it, it was a lot of fun, but digital is so much easier.  I did learn a lot and I think I can still kinda smell the chemicals today.  I agree with several people,…it was always very cool to see that image come to life in the developer tray.  For several months now, I have an itch to pick up a 500 CM and give 120 a try…
