I like some of these posts.  I hope to see some improved fast primes,…like the 50L, 35L and a 24mm to 28mm in the f1.4 to 1.8 range without IS that is reasonably priced….

Hey thanks everyone! Appreciate all your thoughts…

Hey Cayenne,

Just, IMO,…I rarelly use in camera HDR processing with my 5D III.  Part of the fun is gathering your exposures and working with them in post.  I would agree that Photomatix is probably the best,…I also use Nik HDR Efex Pro,..they both are great.  Nik software plug-ins are great.  In camera settings, I use AEB with 1 stop exposure between each shot.  You can set this to take either 3 shots, 5 shots, or 7 shots.  Look on page 316 of the user manual to customize your AEB setting. ( I think this page is correct,..hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong,…thanks in advance…)  I actually set this to one of my custom settings on my mode dial with a 2 sec delay for quick access.  There are a lot of great sites on the net and YouTube to learn how various people handle their HDRs.

I absolutely agree with Neuro, there is just something about an image shot with FF.

Hey Everyone,
Just wondering what everyone’s experiences/opinions have been, or your current practice when traveling with a tripod on domestic and international flights.  Do you check your tripod in your check-in luggage or do you carry it on?  Any issues/problems with TSA?  I will be traveling with a RRS TQC-14 CF tripod.
Thanks for your thoughts!

I don’t take a lot of portraits, but I can’t get the 85mm f1.2 II out of my head,…it is just a very cool lens!!
At present, I would say that lens and the 24mm f1.4L II is on my wish list

Lenses / Lens to take to Ireland
« on: December 04, 2012, 12:39:41 PM »
Hey Everyone,

Hope some of you have some good advice, because I’m driving myself nuts!  I’m planning a weeklong trip to Ireland in mid January.  We will be in the South and West coastal areas and planning on indoor, street, and landscape shots.  I am planning on taking a 5D III with a 17-40mm f4, and 24-105mm f4.  I can’t decide if I should bring along my 70-200mm f2.8 IS also.  Love that lens, but it is somewhat heavy and does add to our gear.

I know this type of question has been tossed around a lot,…but, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

So an ND 1.2 is 4 stops. Where can I get one of these crazy 10 stop filters? I've never seen more than a 1.2.
I got mine from Adorama, is a B + W 110 ND filter,...they are fun!.....
