EOS Bodies / Re: 1st day with the 1dx (wow)

what blew me away (and still does) are the customization options

yes, the image quality is on a level all its own

but.. the customization makes this camera addictive - for example, i have THREE focus points (i have it configured for left zone/exp-point, AF-ON button - right zone/exp-point, */star button - and center point FULL AUTO, M.FnII button)

and, its like that also but top/center/FULL AUTO in vertical orientation

sweet

Software & Accessories / Re: What are most people using for processing RAW
« on: September 22, 2012, 01:26:06 AM »
Does anyone use Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) that comes free with the EOS camera? Is it any good compared to LR or PS Elements? I haven't tried LR or PSE and just started shooting RAW and processed my photos with DPP. I hope to soon learn PP using LR and/or PSE. Thanks for your thoughts.

i actually prefer the quality (less noise) of DPP - you really should do a side-by-side comparison of DPP to LR41 - i have - and i'm convinced

problem is.. the workflow in DPP is atrocious :(

i'm seriously considering just "brute forcing" it - batch process all my RAW through DPP to TIFFs, then import into LR41, including 1:1 previews - and just eat up HD space..
*shrug*

this for the "quality" work

only

BUILT-IN GPS & WIFI

!!!

WHAT TOOK THEM SO G*****N LONG?!?

(and yes - i'm yelling!!)

we can put gps in these teeny-tiny cellphones that teenage girls slip into their front pockets, it can connect to every wifi standard (PLUS cell ph tower) known to man.......... yet a ten pound canon 1DX can't seem to fit those tiny lil circuits into its MASSIVE body

I have a question concerning filters

I have the Lee system

I have the 77mm size, plus an adapter for a couple smaller sizes

but I've got a 16-35 and its 82mm

I haven't been able to find an adapter for that lens

any ideas??

this brings up a question i've had for a while now

i use the eneloops for my flash (the white/blue ones - not the black XX 2500mah)

and a powerex mh-c9000 to recharge them - love it!

of its many features, it permits you to set the recharge rate

the documentation warns against giving the batteries too much juice during recharging (ie, re-charging too fast)

i always set it to 700 (out of 1000)

i'm curious... if you use a re-charger that allows you to set the recharge rate, what rate do you use??

EOS Bodies / Re: B&H 1DX Order Fulfillment Tracking
« on: July 05, 2012, 11:04:22 PM »
just gonna throw this out there...

based on historical experience (1D3, 1D4.. do those release period experiences apply?) approx when can we expect the 1DX to become generally available?

i understand pre-orders must be fulfilled - but i only just late last month came up with the funds for this

anyway, i know that nobody "knows" -- just asking the general question..
