EOS Bodies / Re: 5D3...why only usb 2.0?
« on: March 13, 2012, 10:06:39 AM »
Because it's called Canon!!
They can put a 63 zone metering into 5D3 from their cheapest model Rebel T3 for next three years rather than using the latest one from the 1DX. In this way, they can also cut the AF point-linked spot metering feature off.(you can find this feature from all Nikon bodies)

Typical answers from Canon user:
1. Oh, that's good enough.
2. There's nothing wrong with it, it works well.

I don't give a damn whether the 5Dmk3 has a USB 2 or USB 3 port. A USB 3 card reader is a cheap one off expense (already bought one), and moving the card from the camera to the read & back again takes a few seconds (which I spend as it is), and I'd rather bitch about more important features.

Ellens is correct here in the case of SDHC class 10 cards they are approx 25Mb/s or thereabouts this is around the limit of USB2.0 so for that purpose no reason for USB3.0 as the card transfer (read) wont reach USB3.0 speeds!
however im unfamiliar with CF speeds anyone?

my local store  told March 30 here in Italy for 3000 euro vat included

i just ordered one! :o

:O  in Ireland its €3500, retailers / distributers here think there is no such thing as Online stores or distance selling!
laughable really Germany Italy France all have cheaper electronics typically 20% -30% than Ireland once it comes in its "oh Ill have a slice of this from distributor to retailer" the greed is blinding! they need to get serious.
€3,000 in Ireland Id more than likely buy, but 3500? no!

due to no press invites shown yet and relative quiet... should we start worrying that the 5D3 wont' be announced on March 2nd?
Correct. Press invites should have been sent out today or yesterday, but still nothing..

And I wonder where Michael Cruz went off to? He said that he was going to post more stuff, but now hes gone.

If you had a Canon 1Dx AND a Canon 5DMkIII would you be browsing a forum?.....
Neither would I!    ;D

I think he said he had a shoot today and hes in Dubai so is updates may not fall on everyones browsing schedule..... cant wait for anymore updates though!

And then of course...

Canon could have deliberately leaked this rumour as a sounding board.

We know they read these forums, what better way to find out the thoughts of potential customers. Then they can say
"we listened to what our customer base wanted..."

This sort of site is, after all, a 2 way street. Both Canon and CR get a benefit from working together like this.

Well at 3k Im out!   ;)

Besides 5DMkii are available at 1,700 euro in some european countries.
So what price would that make a used one!

Hopefully 'they'll' read this!  ;)

I  Like the shot as I said but can anyone explain at least how come the purple haze of our atmosphere is not in front of the moon? afterall if there was a cloud it would hardly be behind the moon?

Any ideas? would love to know how it was done.

That purple haze is of our atmosphere...
If the haze is not in front of the moon then the moon is about to collide with Earth!!!!   :O
It (the moon) is actually already within our atmosphere!

I like the image though.

I also like the image posted on by 5D Freak -  Coolum Dawn in Time Panorama - S.jpg
Astounding image was it taken on the equator? how was 2 trails achieved?

And the OP is correct he is good at marketing... hes got us all talking and looking at it!
