Hey everyone, I wasn't one of those folks who pre-ordered the 1DX and decided just to wait it out and see if there are any bugs or anything before I committed myself to the 1DX.
The quality and expense of this lens is probably due to the high resolution/mega pixels camera we hope Canon will release soon. You need some serious glass quality to take advantage of cameras like the D800.
I agree this is Canon's future perspective. But right now, is your statement valid the other way around, too? Like you don't need the 24-70ii if you're happy with 21/22mp, esp. if corner sharpness is not the primary concern? I just asked this for weddings, and probably will get the Tamron 24-70 instead: http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=7479.0
I doubt this lens is $6000 better than the previous version. Canon has lost their marbles.
Basically people who don't know how to shoot and have shakey hands.
I picked one up from my local shop today, they had at least 10 in stock.
What are your impressions so far?
It feels rock solid, very nice shape and it hugs the curves of the camera nicely. It has the same magnesium alloy skeleton that the 5D3 itself has. It's definitely beefier than the grip on my 5DII (Zeikos, but I'm pretty sure it's the same shape as the BG-E6). Feels more like a 1-series camera now. Grips are a must for me, and while it was a little expensive it was worth it for me. Although I'm still curious to see how the $90 Korean alternative is, I would have picked that one up had it been available first.
I have few but not from a final version. Canon allowed me to use one for 24hrs last month!
Yeah the Canon representatives kept saying that the final version would have much better images.
I simply do not believe that!
