Lenses / Re: Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II Delayed? [CR2]
« on: April 03, 2012, 06:46:46 AM »
So we get the 5D mkIII, we sit tight for the lense and it doesn't come!! Now what!? We get the 24-105 for more than the kit!? We get the 24-70 and in 2 months we have a ten years old lense that is "replace" by a II version!?

What should I do!?

Ummm ... go take photo's?

Surely you have other lenses you can use until then?

Nothing else than a 50mm 1.4!
Moving from APC-S you just forget about your lenses and get new ones....

Now, it's a big mess, I don't know what to do....

If I get the L 24-105 IS I am afraid that I will have difficulties to sell it or no use of it when I'll get the 24-70 later on...

And I feel it would be even worse with the actual 24-70....

Even renting is just too long....

I rebuild everything from scratch thinking the timing is right and they are not increasing....

To add 1000$ on the new 24-70, that they got the time and they have announced it....

that's impossible to properly judge from a photography standpoint! It's a cute cute baby Kitty and that's the only think I see!
Nice bokeh!

It was really more a test of the autofocus then anything else. And I am quite pleased! The only thing I REALLY dont like is that the focus point doesn't flash when you start focus like on the 5d2. Makes it tough to focus in the dark. I hope it doesn't prove to be a problem when I shoot my wedding over the weekend.

that can be changed in the menu, for sure. I've read it on the forum.

Couldn't find the Kirk 1" clamp on the Kirk website.  Can you provide link and clamp model number.  I'd like to consider this for comparison with another option I'm looking at - described below.

It's the Kirk QRC-1, and here are Kirk and B&H links.

Is the Kirk 1" clamp about the same size as the B2-FAB?  I want to minimize size and weight of the solution.

The Kirk clamp (on the left in the images below) is smaller than the RRS B2-FAB (on the right), and doesn't have the little nubs on the bottom which you can see in the lower image.

RRS suggested I either file off the nubs to connect the FastenR-3 (which it looks like was done for the photo on the RRS page), or just mash the rubber washer down on them.  Instead, I returned the RRS clamp, and kept the Kirk.

but it looks so hugely! :) (I know, I know not the main purpose...) could we see how it looks ON the camera?

Thanks,
almo

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Problem with 5DmkIII sensor at high ISO?
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:49:45 AM »
Wow, the amount of pixel peep-age dork-age around here is unreal.  It's 100k ISO!?!  Who cares, why are you shooting that high?? Stop spending 10 hours a week trolling forums about your pixels and buy a 2.8 lens.

Buy a 1.4 lens! My good old 50 1.4 was my favorite.

Or even flash it at iso50  ;D ;D ;D

I would turn on the light! :)

the last concert shot clearly shows too much noise to me...
it's at 25600 1/250 46mm @ 5.6 - what lense did you use?

you could get ISO 12K @4 or even less with your 70-200 @3.5 or even lower the speed to 125.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5DmkIII RAW File support for Aperture 3?
« on: March 23, 2012, 03:51:34 AM »
I saw a thread on the 5DmkIII RAW Files not supported by Adobe Lightroom yet. Has anybody tried using Apple's Aperture  software?

Unfortunately, its not supported yet. Apple just released an update today for the D800, but no 5D3. Hopefully soon!

From your experience, how long does it usually take to add a new camera?
I've seen that the latest update of Aperture was meant specifically for the Nikon D800, and the thing is not even available yet. Seeing this, I have the feeling this is more a Canon stuff than Apple.

Sorry Guys but I'm getting lost on this SD card battle...

You say that UHS is not support on the 5DMKIII. Very well, nothing we can do about it.

What do you mean by not supported? A UHS card would not work or it woudn't benefit from the full speed?

I'm planning on getting this on the primary CF port:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/646876-REG/SanDisk_SDCFXP_032G_A91_32GB_Extreme_Pro_CompactFlash.html

But I need to choose the SD card that goes along. My main purpose is Backup, ideally in RAW format. Woud this work???
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/824140-REG/SanDisk_SDSDXPA_032G_A75_32_GB_SDHC_Memory.html

if it does work, it is over speedy for what the 5DMKIII can do and I should just get something slower and save the money? like:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/828326-REG/SanDisk_SDSDRX3_032G_A21_32GB_SDHC_Memory_Card.html

I have an Apple Macbook Pro early 2011, maybe there is an impact on the support SD cards as well...

Thank you,
almograve

Price in europe is 3999euro http://www.fotokonijnenberg.be/product/1631461/canon-eos-5d-mark-iii-body.html
It's 5299$ !!!!
are they crazy!

In (Finland) Rajala Proshop it's only 3799€ ;) http://tinyurl.com/83cbsem For some reason they got 5D2 image for it :/ probably they going to change it soon.

Get yourself a nice airplan ticket to NYC with your girlfriend and a couple hotel nights. You'll enjoy NYC, a game at the Madison square garden and then you go to B&H and you buy everything you need. Overall you have spent the same amount of money and you are HAPPY.
That's what I do.
